Need advice regarding mods

I was a Mount and Blade player and it got me hooked until a year or so ago when I had to get back to more important things in real life.  A couple of weeks ago I found that there was a new expansion, Mount and Blade Warband, that had been released and instantly bought it off Steam. I've been hooked again for a few weeks

However, I'm going to start a new game with some tweaks from TweakMB and was thinking whether there are other mods out there that are "must-have". Some people have recommended Diplomacy and it certainly seems interesting although I am worried about having no money to spend in the field and having to go back to my capitol to get money. I don't really care much for the Multiplayer mods yet, maybe in the future. I'm also not a big fan of the total conversions and or near total conversions that seem to introduce guns and other stuff. So I was wondering whether people could reommend me some mods like Diplomacy. Mods for single player campaigns but that add a whole lot of depth and make the game more enjoyable and intense.

If you are looking for a non-total conversion mod that adds depth to the single player campaign, you want to play Diplomacy. I've never found an issue with the household staff taking care of money--they collect taxes and pay your troops from the treasury (at your center) and if you use the recruiters to get troops that comes from the treasury as well. So the only money you need in the field is for food and troop upgrades. Carry enough with you and get some via trading...it is nice to have the rest safe at home. But that was far too long of a digression. Get Diplomacy.

Custom Commander adds some other features to battles and the like that you may be interested in. the Open Source Project mod combines Diplo and CC into a nice package.

Pike and Blade changes the troop trees in interesting ways. Also is merged with Diplomacy (notice a trend?)

In all, head to the released mod board and see what you like. But get Diplomacy.

All the ones mentions by Caba'drin are good, but he failed to mention Byrtenwalda. That really is the best mod ever. Try it out, you might like it. :)

I too didn't like the total overhaul mods before. I hated, and still don't like, muskets being more powerful than crossbows/bows and stuff.
Then one day I had free time and decided to give these mods a chance. I downloaded nearly all of the stickied Caravanserai mods, didn't like the most of them, but I was surprised that I actually found few I liked. Since then I have played Native only in multiplayer.

So it may be a good idea to give total overhaul mods a try. You know very soon if you liked it or not. I used cheats when testing, checked all items quickly, upgraded different troops, fought few battles etc.

Play cRPG, it's better than anything else. See the post count in the mods section of the forums. It's a multiplayer mod though so it might not be the right thing for you if you seek depth and so forth.

I don't see the point in cRPG. Levelling in multiplayer games is a stupid, aged concept from a time where internet connections weren't fast enough for proper real time fighting. It's just that people don't seem to have realized this yet. People can kick enough ass in multiplayer already, there's no need for stat advantages and all that ****.
