I downloaded Warband a couple weeks ago and all on my first character, I went noble all the way.  I'm now on day 343, I have a fief, 673 renown, 36 honor, and 48 right to rule. Here's my problems.

1. I can't ever get an army up to the higher levels. It seems bandits and their arrows decimate my armies. Tips?

2. I'd like more property but never get it, doesn't matter if I take a castle or help take it.

3. I wasted a lot of early points while leveling, any way to reset that?

Any other tips for a serious noob would be appreciated lol. I really love this game and want to be good, I just feel like there is something I'm missing.

1. Give yourself and your companions plenty of points in Trainer. Completing quests also awards xp to the entire party. Mercenaries are also a decent yet expensive option to get quality troops fast.

2. What is your current fief? How long ago was it given to you? Are you friends with the king/other vassals? Have you asked them for their support? And yes, it matters greatly if you take it yourself.
Also, your renown is relatively low. Earn more.

3. No.

For some tips, I recommend looking at these guides:

Thanks for the info! My fief is Ruluns, my renown was around 160 when I got that so it's been a while. I'm in good standing with the king, but I haven't done a lot of quests for the vassals, they never had any. My best relationship atm is with the current Marshall, it's a 27.

Well, that was certainly a while ago, so having just received one isn't the issue.

It's good that the king isn't pissed at you, but he doesn't quite like you. Neither does whoever the marshal is at only 27. Help lords out in battle, talk to them when they host fiefs, keep asking for quests, and support the lords you want to be friends with (or they lords they want) when the king is handing out fiefs. If someone is captured, rescue them for a good relationship boost. Better yet, talk to one of their family members about anything they need done, they'll probably offer to pay you to do it!

Have you ever supported a lord for a fief, or asked if they would do so for you?

I asked the current Marshall and he said he would support me. No one else has ever done that lol.

I just read you gain relations of you support them, I guess I'll start doing that too.

How can you tell who has been captured and where they will be held?

Excellent.

Every time a lord is defeated, there should be a notification in the bottom left corner of the screen I think. Sometimes he will be captured, and it will say so. You can also ask tavern owners if there's any work, and they will say something along the lines of "so and so has a family member that was captured, and wants him rescued". Captured lords will be listed as prisoner of the party that defeated  them, until said party stops at a castle or town, where they will be held until they escape, are rescued, their ransom is paid, or the war ends. When close to a castle or town, hover over it, and you should see a list of the current garrison and prisoners.

To actually rescue them, you can either defeat the party that captured them in battle, or break them out of prison. To do so, you will have to sneak into the fief they are being held in if you are at war with the faction. This is harder with higher renown and a large party. If you are caught, you will be surrounded by several guards, and you will be wearing light armor, and armed with a staff and throwing knives for defense.

If you do manage to sneak in, seek out the prison guard. He will be standing immediately outside the prison, which in towns is often close to the building that lords reside in. Demand the key, and bludgeon him to sleep before he can react. Go inside the prison, and tell the lord/lords you're here to rescue him. It's usually best to have them help you fight the guards, although if the lord lacks a shield they will be vulnerable to archers. Once you've exited the prison, you and the lord will have your equipment back, and will have to fight off all the guards to successfully escape.

Note that I highly recommend you save before attempting a rescue, as the lord you're rescuing may occasionally bug out and try to fight you, failing the mission.

I could use a bit of advise is it better to travel around with a small 1-20 band of merry men or 30+ seems like when your levle 1-20 maintaining an army of 30+ mid to high lvl troops is vary hard even on easy lol am i doing anything wrong or is there bones you can throw ny way. Also any updates on banner lord release date cant wait for that

The higher you get in level the larger outlaw parties get. You need to get a core group of trained soldiers together before you can train soldiers by fighting bandits at this stage. Try mercenaries if you have the money or training them yourself at the training grounds. The training grounds takes a lot of time but you will get cheaper better troops in the long run. Also Khergit troops train too cavalry in one step making the the most effective quick army, just be mindful of the stepee bandits they tend to stay too the east so villages in the west are fair game.
If you don't have money to upgrade your troops try tournaments or tax quests from lords. Try to get enterprises in each city of your planned faction so you will not have to worry about money in the future.
Finally be warry of how many small groups of bandits are around you. A group of ten is easy pickings but 5 groups of ten can join and give you problems. Only pick bandits to fight that you can easily crush if even a few of your soldiers die it might not have been worth your time.

1.if you want to make a high grade army that will annihilate bandits and other lords put your skill points into the trainer skill.

2. I had the same problem and eventually I trained up my army a bit  and then renounced my oath and picked a faction and a castle to conquer  I decided using three factors the amount of wars that faction is involved in and the amount of lords that faction has I also chose to take a castle fairly isolated in my case i chose chalbek castle i would recomend acquiring  followers and sending them out to increase your right to rule so less factions immediately declare war against you as well.
you might hit a financial "curb" but once you pick up more fiefs you will be eventually start making a profit and no one will  prevent you from taking as many fiefs as you want although if your faction is large enough you might want to consider recruiting some lords.

3.No.

Just have someone like matheld with high training and recruit alot of recruits and they will almost instantly become footman for me I can get a army of 60 mamlukes in 30 minutes to a hour and not have a single unit die on me once i get a couple of mamluks. and I took 3 towns in 1 day with garrisons of 200+ using all mamlukes and some archers with and Ill lose maybe 12 mamluks in the process but it is very easy. just take a town and if he says no and you already have another town or 2 start your own faction that's what i did i have 36 right to rule and I still instantly got the sarranids marshal and 12 other lords to join me but only start your own faction when he says no so you can leave with all your feifs but you might want to be married first so you dont have to have a companion be your advisor.
