I hope this isn't going to end up in another **** pot.

NATO claims their helicopters received fire from the area I think. But they refuse to say whether they were in Pakistan's airspace.

Yeah, as in the 'allies' whom are also helping the enemy. US-Pakistan relations are tense as mentioned in the article.

Doesn't make any ******** sense what so ever, I'll wait for further news.

Hopefully Pakistan doesn't pull the nuclear plug in the meantime.

It's quite likely to be American AH-64A's

I'll watch the vid and read the stuff now.

Not much info to judge, looks like the JTAC probably got pissed of at being hit from inside Pakistan so just sent a Helo to smack back.

Just happens to have smacked our 'allies'

Im surprised we even sent Helicopters since we have drones operating in the area. Presenting a manned target when relations are already tense... I dunno why it would be worth the risk overall.
If the Pakistanis got lucky, which is unlikely, and had shot a helicopter down I wonder what our reaction would be.

This reminds me of David Cameron giving an interview upon visiting Pakistan last summer; the key sentence went something along the lines of "I am not implying the Pakistan government is helping terrorist, I just want to warn them to not continue doing so"

I'm not really familiar with U.S. drone ops, but I don't think they have drones on stand by for HRF, seeing as it it quite expensive to organise the strikes.

Pakistan is playing all kinds of games. Its rather unstable.

Yeah its extremely unstable. I am not sure how much control over events the Pakistani government has, if they are out of the loop from independent actions taken by Terrorist sympathizers within their own ranks then all the warnings in the world aren't going to help. I need to read up more on the internal situation in Pakistan to get a better idea of what the hell is going on there.

Probably a few trigger-happy frontier guards decided to get "revenge" for the perceived slights against their country by tacking potshots at the NATO helo. And then the Pakistani government acts all shocked and aggrieved when they shoot back.

I don't think their shocked as such since they've been threatening the States about firing at further incursions, but yeah some of the guards were either probably upset or had the all clear to fire. However no matter the justification, we are flying missions into their air space so we would be pretty stupid if we didn't think they might actually make good on their promise to shoot once in a while.

Funny how they never seem all that interested in enforcing their sovereignty when it comes to the Pakistani Taliban.

I'm not surprised to be honest. They were barely policing it before the war and I doubt they'll lift much of a finger to help us now, given the public sentiment in Pakistan.

he Pakistani released a statment, that the outpost is located on the zero line between Pakistan and Afghanistan and that they opened fire at the heli, when they thought the heli was about to intrude into Pakistan at which point the heli's returned fire...

So they didnt actually crossed... I really hope that, that shooting was warning fire and that things got out of hand. otherwise what suicidal idiots opens gun fire at heli's formation

Actually they launched co-ordinated offensives with NATO in past week against militants in the area and before they were happy to let NATO do their dirty work for them, still Pakistan has a lot of internal problems and they cannot look like they are weak or under "westren" influence (in one of the threads we mentioned bombings there, so I checked. there was close to 10 bombings in Pakistan this month and more attack by radicals, which should speak volumes on their stability)
