Team Scotland

Well recently it was announced that MM was going to have its own Nation Cup which would involve many teams from around the world consisting of 15 players from each country. So as a long serving player of MM I thought "Great!". So I decided to organize a team for Scotland. I spent many hours asking all the Scots I knew and any I could find if they would be interested. However as soon as I announced my ambitions, all hell broke loose. "Oh Scotland isnt a country!" "Oh thats not fair" "Bla bla bla double standards bla bla". So I listened and read what people had to say. Was quite angry at this response. Now I dont know about you but first of all, why is politics so prolific in a game?

So basically some people got mad and said just have a UK team. Upon seeing this I asked the people I already had in the group what was their thoughts, UK or Scotland. All but one, so 13 to 1, said they wanted a Scottish team and not a UK team. So I thought great, this will good and thats it settled. Still a huge commotion continued and a meeting was arranged. Basically a decision was made by people, many almost all whom the decison would not affect decided, nah Scotland shouldnt have a team. Its not fair. So all this stuff blew up. I proposed, lets have it fair for everyone, we have a Scotland Team and a UK Team(Excluding Scotland). Seemingly fair for everyone right? Here it comes, double standards all this. I cant quite accept how the views of the Scots who want a Scot Team are being tossed aside for people to suit themselves and use us to their advantage and appease their overwhelming egos. We want to have our own team, we want this to be our choice. No I am not making any speculations, well I cant really help it, but I did notice the majority of those who were at the meeting expressing their views on how their shouldnt be a Scottish were mainly English. Just saying, it was an observation.

I dont want to stir up a political debate, I dont want there to be Anti-Scottish/English/UKness being spread. I just want the wishes and the choices of those of whom this decision directly affects be respected. I tried to speak to the organizers, say why Scotland should have a team and give them fairer and alternative decisions but I was treated unfair, was rudely ignored and basically told where to go. Every point I made was met with a poor excuse. I dont see how hard it can be to just make a choice that is so simple. The whole reason I am posting is to actually raise awareness and get our point across and not that of the mainly arrogant bigots who would say we dont deserve a team.

No flame wars. Just respect each other and their wishes. Its not a lot I am asking for. POLITICS SHOULD HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH GAMING! We are mature individuals, I would like to see that reflected in a proper and just decision made.

Tane here from the 88th, I am Scottish and would really like to have our own team in the cup.

Scotland and the rest of the members of the United Kingdom are separate countries in their own right, only joined through one monarchy, this doesn't mean we should be considered as one in a NATIONAL cup, where NATIONS compete against EACH OTHER.

im one of those who was looking forward to playing for my country, but the fact that the people who oppose the scottish team are mainy english only confirms steriotypes, its easy to say just have a uk team when i can guarantee that the vast majority of the uk team will be english, scotland is a country, as is england, HAVE AN ENGLISH TEAM!!
stop being political and play the game

Well as avidly as I fought against you guys yesterday, I guess it isn't that bad having a Scottish team. Though most hold views against it, I think it is only fair that anyone can have a team (within reason, you know, provided that the team can bring the numbers). Anyway, I hope you guys do well, good luck with this.
