Sara is bad at 1500? Who knew?

I like the sarranids all round because mostly with almost any amount of gold i can make an effective cav build

Along with an effective infantry and archer build.

To be honest, I never understood the Sarranid hate.
same i love playing the sarranids BAMBOO POWER!!!!!!!!!!!

Fairness isn't the issue. I'm more concerned with class (and faction) balance on open and mixed maps. Ranged units get pretty decent gear for 1000. Cav and inf, not so much.

For $998, as a Vaegir archer. I can get barbed arrows, a warbow and a leather vest. This is still excellent gear for plains maps and I have the base model scim which is a decent 1h weapon. The only way this is worse than 1500 is that my armor is not 1 tier better.

For $1000 a Swad cav, for example, can only get a hunter, and then he can choose between a leather vest, the second or third helmet, or slightly upgraded shield. No heavy lance. No padded armor. No heavy horse.

Please explain how Vaegir archers will not be more OP on plains maps.

Because now that the Vaegir archer has chosen to trade armor for a high damage, slower repeating weapon combination I can now kill him in 1-3 shots as archer, 1-2 swings not glancing like crazy (like I would if he wore lamellar) in melee, or 1-2 lancings.

1500= Lamellar, Upgraded Bow, Barbed Arrows, Helmet.  With that setup I'm taking down Coursers in 2-3 shots and Hunters in 3-4.  I'm taking out mid-tier shields rapidly with my arrows.  I'm 1-3 shotting enemy archers and taking 4-6 arrows myself.

This is really not the place and I've explained pretty much everything via PM without any sound rebuttles but by having 1500 all you are doing is bypassing the strategic element of equipment choice and getting everything your heart desires first round.  In reality, if the game were intended to be played that way, their would not be a gold system and basically standard high tier equipment loads for all factions/classes.

That being said I doubt the votes are there to change the ruleset for this season.  However the logical arguement for 1000 is pretty rock solid.

I never got any of said PMs. And if there was a place I'm not sure where it was.

With my $998 setup I'm killing horses as rapidly if not more (because they're only hunters and coursers now); my offensive gear is the same. I just don't have lamellar or leather. When enemies can't even close the distance to touch me (except for other ranged units) that armor is meaningless anyway. I'm not seeing the rock solid logic yet, just sayin'. I think inf and cav are nerfed more than ranged when you drop to $1000.

If anything, the equipment cost scaling is off, and stuff should be more expensive for archers or they should get less $. There's no way you can say that 1500 gets a cav or inf unit all that he desires. It just applies to archers. Ok, so you allow less $ to everyone so that ranged units can't get all that they desire - seems logical. Except that ranged units can still get top offensive gear; they are just more squishy.  But then so is everyone, and they don't have top notch offensive gear. The end result is that archers' increased squishiness is mitigated by the fact that there will be less potent weapons used against them.

Look, I'm not gonna crusade this issue. I don't think it will break the game or anything. I just think that your camp is focused on one perspective and are not seeing the whole picture. I'm sure you disagree.

LOL, is there some archer fashion that I am not a part of??? I have never used a single one of the archer setups described in this thread. DEFAULT WEAPONS FTW!!!
Besides, any archer that can aim is OP anyways... (Mr. John)

No offense Mad, but your arguments hold no strength at all. Your only defense against snowballing is that it also occurs at 1500 gold. If you actually take the time to do the math, you'd see that starting with crappier equipment is NOT going to help a team recover from a lost round. I honestly wonder how much of each of my PMs you actually read before sending out another one of your own.

I don't like getting worked up about these type of things, but, really, there is no reason to change mid-season to an entirely different approach to the game than we've seen in any other NA tournament or ladder for the last year. Everyone who entered NASTe season 2, came into with the expectation that we'd be playing at 1500 gold, and so, are fine with that amount of starting gold. Not everyone wants to play with 1000 gold. Surely you can see that trying to change it is causing problems? Maybe this change is not in the best interests of the community?

I think I learned:

1000 = OP Vaegirs

1500 = OP Xbows

I am still of the mindset that we play one way for this season, and maybe another next season. It shouldn't be to big of a deal since teams switch factions at halftime.

I think we should play a map at 1500, switch sides at 1500, then do it again at 1000, but in the reverse order so you get to play the same faction twice in a row and then another faction on either side like a faction sandwich of gold.

That's more confusing than I'd care to make anything.

[Edit]

Updated MF roster to include their newest player.

I am interested in joining a Naste team for this season. If anyone's interested in having me, let me know.

Marnid, it's simple.  I've made a diagram to explain.
