OSP Medieval 3D Art Narf's Transitional Armour Pack (Updated 07/19/10)

I agree NN, plate armour was good in the fact that it spread the force over a larger surface area, softening the blow. If you contour the armour to that extent, then you render the plate effect useless.

But armor was also custom fit for the customer......although there were no female customers in real life......

So......less contour? kinda like the female frame of the plate armor?

Custom fit doesn't mean it was "fitted". Unless the visor was up, you wouldn't be able to tell the gender of one wearing the suit.

This is what I've been maintaining since I first released my plate armour pack.  The armour would be shaped in fundamentally the same way, regardless of gender.  The plates were designed to protect vitals, and since we can live without breasts or genitals (if you can call that life...), then it stands to reason that the armour would be constructed in fundamentally the same way for both sexes.  Thus I have not bothered to include female morphs for these armours (though the gambeson is a different story...).  If anything, the frame would just look a little smaller (although I imagine a robust woman would look pretty much the same as a man in this kind of armour)- ex here: http://www.wassonartistry.com/armor.php?w=15thcent

On the other hand, this is a video game, and doesn't have to be faithful to reality.  I know a ton of people really want to see the contoured look on their female characters, and since one of them has actually bothered to make it happen (rather than just make a petulant post about the lack thereof), then- great!.  It saves me having to it myself (or make promises to do so that I probably won't keep ).  If you want to keep things more historically correct, then, as CounterPoint391 says, don't download his morphs.

On a tangent note, I've altered the churburg armours a bit (changed the spaulders- they're more authentic now, I think), and also finalized the maps.  Just have to finish up making some lods, and I'll update the armour pack to include them.

I doubt a women would fit, or at least feel comfortable in an armour intended to a man, even a man with the same size. Not because of breasts, but because of hips, that are much wider, and shoulders, smaller. As you can see in the link narf has posted, it´s easy to see she´s a woman even with the helmet.

So, I care about having female specific meshes, because when I was playing without it, the shoulders being too big really annoyed me. If you want to be accurate, no breasts, but change some body proportions.

Hips are not the problem with armour- the breastplate ends at the waist, and doesn't have to fit over the hips.  Like I said above, the frame should be smaller- ie narrower upper body, waist, shoulders, legs maybe.  I never said a woman would fit or be comfortable in an armour made for a man- even a man would feel uncomfortable in an armour made for a different man.  I said a robust woman would likely look the same as a man in full plate armour- the woman in that link is rather petite.  Also, I never said there shouldn't be female morphs, or that I didn't care about them- I meant I just couldn't be bothered with them   Too many other projects I want to do.

I am having trouble installing this mod, originally I extracted the files in native and it worked soundly now whenever I place them in a module folder (always native i am just making copies to test first because of this) the "module" will cease to work. Any Ideas why?

To all folks whose game won't load after installing these items, you'll have to put them into your native game manually.  Don't copy-paste these files directly into your folders, as they are not compatible with new versions of Warband.  This only works for 1.113.  I'll try to put together a compatible version for my next update.

Speaking of which, I've done a new pigface klappvisor bascinet which will be included, along with the finalized 'Churburg 13' harness, in the next update.  I just want to take a stab at making some hourglass gauntlets, then I'll pack it all up.

The mail didn't come out quite as I'd hoped, but I'm going to leave it as it is, 'cause I'm sick of working on it.
