Narcissus and his toes ...

Users who are viewing this thread

I would have given my thoughts and ideas on the matter, yet since they were all negative, I declined. Not that your idea (as well as a few others in this thread) don't have merit ... just that with a system like you propose ... I would be unable to play the game at all.

Criticism is a good thing. Are you sure you didn't have any positive criticism? Well, what are your arguments? I'd at least like to know what are your opinioned negatives about the ideas. I know one con to my system would that it involves a lot of clicking. I accounted for this with the fact that the game already involves a lot of clicking. My goal was to make it only more simple, and more intuitive than what we have now, so it's hard for me to buy your opinion that it's "unplayable" without some arguments, ya know?

Actually, I didn't realize this until now, but my system has one more advantage going for it that hasn't been mentioned. It would make changing the direction of your attack "on the fly" a much, much simpler thing to perform. You would simply move your mouse to a new location before you execute your strike.

No, no, no ... you misunderstood.

Unplayable because I'm disabled. I have no use of my right shoulder, arm, and hand. Nothing to do with whether or not your idea is a good one. I actually like the *thought* of your idea the best, because it would seem to give so much more control of the character.

Sorry for the misunderstanding ... I should have elaborated when I made the first post.

Disabled? Man, I gotta give you some serious props. I thought I was hot stuff for playing the game on 107% difficulty and in First-Person mode. In light of this information, I suggest you add, "Lord of Mount and Blade" somewhere in your sig. I feel like a punk for not realizing who I was talking to al this time...

Now, for honor's sake, I must become the charter member of your new personal retinue. Oh, and your PR guy.

Playing M&B is a breeze compared to most action games. The controls, I find, are intuitive and simple ... yet you have better control than with more complicated structures.

Remember that the vast majority of my life includes surfing the web and playing PC games. Considering I log more playing time in a year than two 'hard-core gamers' do in the same amount of time ... I have learned to compensate quite well.

CS: Source anyone?

Anyways ... sorry for taking the topic over.

Headshot! Headshot! Double Kill! Triple Kill! Rampage! Running Riot! GAME OVER!!!!
"N00BS GOT 0WNED!!!"
~~All while holding a complicated philosophical chat with some of the spec guys with detailed citations of Kant, Hegel, Nietzsche, and Marx.

Heh yeah I know you've only got 1 arm out of commission, but I couldn't help it, it was the first thing that came to mind when you said you've "compensated well"

Sorry for moving things like that, but as this had no place in the other topic ....

By the way ... I don't use my feet. I use a Microsoft Optical Intellimouse that has two extra buttons ... one on each side.

Between those two extra buttons and inventive ways of using the middle mouse button ... as well as scrolling with the wheel ... and the occasional need to push the left ctrl or shift key ... I do just fine. My feet stay where they should be ... in socks on the floor.

Too bad, you underutilize your feet. While I'm playing M&B, I use my feet to write term papers and catch up on newspapers (I taught myself to read braille using my feet, so I get braille newspapers). Also, sometimes I used my special blinking-code to communicate with the people around me, keeping my social interactions to a minimum (Huzzah!). Of course, most of those cretins don't understand the beautiful complexity of my system of winks and nods, let alone how to interpret a single word (I mean, COME ON, how hard is a double wink followed by a half-nod to understand?). Well, it is their loss, and I don't care that they keep giving me wedgies. I *like* my underwear that high, thankyouverymuch.

And you only JUST told us?

Come, come. Legends rarely toot their own horns. In fact, I can guarantee you that Narcissus is feeling quite extraordinary pain right now because of the way this conversation is going. Well, I'm here for that now, of course. I can do the tooting now, Narcissus, you are quite free to resume your feats of impossible daring as you wish.

By the way, he is being very modest about his "extra buttons mouse". He only passingly referred to the way he so gracefully, yet swiftly teleports his hand from mouse to keyboard at leisure. Or, at least, it looks for all the world like a teleport. In one instant, his hand is ever so precisely controlling the mouse, and then, in a wild puff of midnight flame and crimson smoke, his hand reappears at the keyboard to type whole paragraphs of text while playing Counter Strike. In fact, most of his time spent on this forum is in-between CS:S rounds. Have you ever seen him use the Leet Speek? No. That's because he is the "real thing", not some poser or wanna be. In fact, blogs don't even deserve him. We are lucky we didn't lose him back at 21. If I would have been his Squire back in those days, I would have boldly run out there and allowed him to land on me to break his fall. Of course, that would have created a real paradox, but it's truly beside the point.

SuperSport racing bike ... back when I was 21.

Can't move or feel my right shoulder, arm, hand, or upper side because of it.

 OMG...

Well Mr. Narcisus, sorry for read that. But things may have porpouse in life.
-------
By the way, a girl, friend of me, recently suffered an accident on a bike. She losses her knee, her femur have now a stick of steel inside, and her leg bone broke too. The knee protesis are too expensive, so, she loose that articulation.

A simply question, Mr. Narcisus, am I allowed to continue the Combat Controls thread?

Mr. Narcisus, if you dont mind, or if you don't get bothered with, can you post how you configure your four mouse buttons and shift, and control, to play M&B?

Yes, Flaming eyes ... thats why I moved this out of your thread so it didn't get hijacked.

Yes, Ingolifs ... I flew across the country and saw the three leading neurosurgeons. All three gave me the same response. What a waste of a small fortune that was.

Flaming Eyes, Yes ... prosthesis can be very expensive. I'm sorry to hear that things didn't work out for her.

Big ... there is no need to toot anyone's horn. Devoting one's life to becoming proficient with one arm at video games is hardly worthy of a fan base. I think people should be admired for actually being admirable ... not 1337ness 2 zE mAx0rZ aT zE gAmEz!!!!!111!!eleven11!

Mage ... feet are freaking disgusting. I hate putting my feet into a clean pair of socks. Why? Because the socks are clean! Have you ever seen an ugly, repulsive foot? Everyone has. Have you ever seen an attractive foot? Nope, because there aren't any! Feet fetish folks are the only people that think so. Seriously though ... I would never be able to use my feet for anything like that. Ever. Heh.

PrinceScamp ... I have actually mentioned it once before, I believe ... and I have alluded to it several times. Exactly what should I do? Announce whenever I enter a forum that I am disabled? Great first post: "My name is Narcissus. I'm glad to be at this forum! I'm a semi-invalid who plays games with one hand." <---- ummm ... no.
