Even if they won at Waterloo, the French would have had a hell of a fight ahead of them what with the armies of Russia and Austria already on their way. He'd have to repeat Austerlitz.

I can't help but feel if they had won that war, though, it would have established a fairly permanent peace.

And the Spanish and Piedmontense. Don't forget about those.

I have always wondered what would have happened if Napoleon had won the waterloo campaign. Winning the battle of Waterloo would have been possible, but it still would have cost him a large part of his army in casualties.

No, I think that if Ney had took control of Quatre-bras on the 15th of June, as he was supposed to do, and allowed D'erlon to march to Napoleons aide at Ligny, the campaign would have been completely lost. Wellington would have to march his army, on the 16th, all the way around back to Quatre-bras to attack Ney's troops who, by then, would have been fully set up to receive an attack. During this march Napoleon would have had all the time to defeat Blücher who could expect no help from the Allied army of Wellington.

And this is when we assume Wellington wouldn't turn tail and retreat northwards, which is what I consider more likely then a presumably useless attack on Ney at Quatre-bras.

And the best thing is that this would have happened if the 2nd NL division had followed Wellingtons order to retreat and regroup more eastwards, basicly pulling a huge gap between him and Blücher.
