Let's say that this diagram represents your situation: You are object Y, the horse is object H, and the enemy is object E.
Y----------H->.......E
Let's say I throw a knife at person E. Of course, the horse is in the way, so the horse would get hit instead. That ought to be the end of that throwing knife, stuck in the guts of an unfortunate horse who happened to be standing in the line of fire. However, in M&B, this is how it really works:
Y ---------H--------E-->
The knife will hit the horse, and also damage the enemy directly behind it. Graphically the knife will be stuck in the horse, but that doesn't stop you from "headshotting" the poor sap standing 20 feet from where the knife got itself stuck in Mr. Ed.
This works with bows, arrows, crossbows, crossbows that fire swords (I love modding), throwing knives, throwing axes, rocks, just about anything you can think of.
