Sometime my computer automatically went off and then reboot when I clicked on Mount and blade.exe to start the games without telling me what problem it was. I thought that M and B's dev team might would take a look at it.

I got pentium 4 of 2.52 Ghz
eGeforce 6800 with 128mb
1 Gb of RAM

Eagle out...

I get the same reboot when I try to play on my home computer. I had M&B on a laptop, but I no longer have that.

I've tried installing older versions of M&B, but it is still the same deal, reboot every time I try to play.

PLEASE let me know if there is a fix to this - I really want to play some more.

Make sure that you have the latest version of DirectX. If you do ... I would re-install it, just in case it has been corrupted.

If that doesn't help then I would suggest uninstalling M&B, deleting the mount&blade folder, and doing a fresh, full install.

Good luck and post back here if neither of these things solve your problems,

Narcissus

Thanks Narcissus - that was the ticket - DirectX was behind on this computer as I don't use it much, and missed the DLs when they pop.

Thanks for the help!

On to crushing more heads via my lance!

Dear Narcissus,

I'm afraid this didn't help in my case. I jumped through Microsoft's stupid hoops for a "genuine Windows user" to download DirectX 9.0c End-User Runtime. Was this the right thing for me to download? 'Cause if it was, I can say that this didn't solve my problem, which is that Mount and Blade reboots when I try to start it. Also, the "complete uninstall and reinstall" does not fix it, either, even with an earlier version. Could you please suggest what I might do to make this problem disappear? If error reports are at all informative, I took snapshots of what they said and can send them to you. Thanks for your help; it is much appreciated.

EDIT: Oh ... and welcome to the forums! :)

I'm sorry to hear that you are having similar problems as Silt was having. :(

That is the correct version of DirectX, yes.

Could you host those screenshots onto www.imageshack.us and then post a link or image here? That might help considerably.

Thanks for your patience,

Narcissus

I had to DL the DirectX as well as update the drivers on my video card. I had the restart problem with the DirectX fixing that, but a sketch problem with the video card, and the update fixed that. :P

If you can put those screenshots to the imageshack, we might be able to help.

Thank you for the welcome.

You know that the computer restarted without showing the menu first. When the computer had booted up into Windows again, it said that, "Windows has recovered from a serious error." I clicked on the button that supposedly would tell me "details" of that error. Here's what I got first:

MandBcrash1.jpg

Then I checked on what those "technical details" were and came up with this:

MandBcrash2.jpg

Those files don't appear to even exist on my computer, so far as I could tell. Not in the place it said, anyway.

Finally, I sent an error report to Microsoft (like that ever helps), and I arrived at the following page:

MandBcrash3.jpg

Would you like for me to try to figure out the "specs" of this computer? I can tell you right off the bat that Mount & Blade worked pretty fine until I updated to the newest version. I hope this was of some help...

Quickest way to find out your specs is to go to the start menu, select run and type in DXDIAG. Hit enter and you should get a directx diagnostic window.
First page should give you the windows version, processor and ram.
Under display, you should get the name of your video card, manufacturer, driver and driver version.
Same information for the soundcard under the sound tab.

If you could post the following information it would be helpful:

Windows version
Ram (as listed by dxdiag)
Processor
Video card manufacturer, name & driver version or date
Soundcard manufacturer, name & driver version or date.

Thanks, Archonsod.

Windows version = Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition (5.1, Build 2600)

RAM = 382 MB RAM

Processor = Intel(R) Celeron(R) CPU 1.80GHz

Video card manufacturer = Intel Corporation; name = Intel(R) 82845G/GL Chip;
driver = ialmrnt5.dll; version = 6.13.0001.3264 (English); date = 9/16/2002 15:05:16

Sound card manufacturer = ? (Where it says, "Manufacturer ID," the answer is "1"); name = Avance AC97 Audio;
driver = ALCXWDM.SYS; version = 5.10.0000.3900 (English); date = 6/29/2002 18:05:00

Has anything clicked in your guys' heads? Nothing happening in mine. :)

Try updating the driver. Latest drivers for that card should be 2005 date.
Try downloading the drivers from this site.

Sound card manufacturer = ? (Where it says, "Manufacturer ID," the answer is "1"); name = Avance AC97 Audio;
driver = ALCXWDM.SYS; version = 5.10.0000.3900 (English); date = 6/29/2002 18:05:00

Again, the latest drivers for the card are 2004. There is a set available through Windows Update. Run windows update, click for the custom downloads and you should see AC97 driver as an update. Download and install that.

Baaaagh...

...I think I'm just going to wait until the next version is released and see what happens... if this keeps up, I'll be sure to post back here. Thanks for your willingness to help me out!
