My music pain

hey, i've just downloaded the new version of pop and have to say i like it. Has most of the stuff i enjoyed in previous versions, with a few great new extras. Even if i was confussed when i saw that several cities had swapped with each other, and that north was now in a different direction 

however i have one compliant that is really making the game difficult for me. One of the new music tracks involves this beeping noise. It has to be the most irritating thing i have ever heard in my life. I don't want to turn the music off, as i like the rest of it, but that beeping noise is impossible. It seems to occur mostly inside the merchants screens, and occasionally in a village.

Is there any way i can turn that perticular track off? or just delete it? I don't know if doing so would harm the mod or not. would renaming a mp3 track to the same as it and replacing the file be any good? or would it have to be the same length?

please help, i like the new mod, but that beeping gives me shivers and i really can't stand it

What beeping noise?  Would you please say what track you are talking about?  Some tracks have birds in them, if that is what you mean by "beeping."  (cheeping?)

If you don't like a track, pick one which you do like, copy it to desktop, retitle it exactly the same as the one you don't like and let it overwrite the one you don't like in the music file.

I'd still like to know what track you are talking about though.

There is one track which has peepers (tree frogs) and some crickets in it - either a night or travel track.  As I said, it is simple to replace any track by choosing one you do like, titling it the same as the one you don't like and letting it overwrite in the music file.

so its easy to replace, but copy something else and change the name?

problem is i have no idea what track it is, i don't know how to play ogg files

Most music players should play it, if your favorite doesnt for some reason, you can download Audacity and it will play them.

Dowload the free Audacity program for your OS after Googling Audacity.  You can play ogg files in it, just drag a track into it when it is open.  When you find the one you don't like, change it out.  There are many topics on the TW forum discussing how to change out game music to suit your own tastes.  Search them out, but what I suggested is the simplest way to do it, unless you want to change the music.py, and the coding in PoP 3, which I'd advise against.

Since you can't seem to specify a particular track, check: uncertain_homestead_lic.ogg
That's the one with crickets and peepers

Just copy this track and quit woofing: outdoor_beautiful_land_lic to desktop, retitle it uncertain_homestead_lic (don't add .ogg), and let it overwrite in your sounds file.
