I have Mount and Blade Warband on Steam, and for the past week or so it's been working fine (I installed it a week ago). However, today after I'd clicked on Mount and Blade Warband in my Library, chose my module (Native) and had got to the INI processing/ loading (I'm afraid I can't remember which, it may have been neither. It was the loading screen with the two horsemen fighting.) the screen went black and a Windows message popped up saying " Mount and Blade Warband has stopped working" followed by something along the lines of " A problem has occurred. Windows will close the program and notify you when the problem is solved". I've tried logging out of Steam and logging back in again and turning my computer off then on again but the problem remains. For what it's worth, the version of Mount and Blade Warband is v1.153, my computer is Windows Vista and my Napoleonic Wars DLC works just fine despite this problem. If anyone could find a solution to this problem I'd be most grateful.

I've had a look at the Mount and Blade Warband files in My Documents. There are two folders Mount and Blade Warband and Mount and Blade Warband Savegames. In the Mount and Blade Warband file there are two further articles, SceneObj and rgl_config, which was on Notepad. In Mount and Blade Warband Savegames there is a file called Native, which then contains two further articles, sg00.sav and last_savegame_backup.sav. When I click on these files, a notice saying that "Windows cannot open this file" appears.

After looking at rgl_config, I realised that information may be helpful to anyone who might want to solve this problem, so I've copied it here:

I hope this will be helpful to anyone wishing to help me with my problem.

rlg_config.txt will be restored everytime the game is started.

Can you verify game cache from the Steam client?
If it still doesn't work you could try turning Steam off and starting the game from its own .exe which is C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\mountblade warbandmb_warband.exe
Still no lock? Delete the game and redownload from Steam.

Cheers guys, verifying the cache worked and it's working fine now, albeit with all saved data lost, but I wasn't to far with my previous profile anyhow
