Hail and well met!

I just downloaded the game yesterday, having been tipped off to it on another game forum. Am finding it very interesting and unique so far -- and in some respects frustrating.

Some of that is the learning curve for character/combat controls coupled with the sparse documentation and lack of "hints" -- e.g. horseback riding. Until I started figuring out how the controls changed when mounted, I was worse than my first RL time riding! Those frustrations eventually clear themselves up (and may eventually reveal some honest sticking points in the gameplay, beyond "user error"...)

One of the greatest frustrations I've found, however, has nothing to do with learning curves: but rather, how the game deals with the camera when the framerate dips. In a crowded and dusty battlefield the framerate can drop significantly for my machine, and as a result, the mouse goes into "hyper sensitive" mode: I'll try to turn my field of view slightly, and end up going into a 360-degree (or more) turn. It's as if the game overcompensates in attempting to swing things around.

Has anyone else encountered this, and does anyone have a recommended fix?

i've had that problem too, but i don't think it is the game. windows itself does that with the mouse when it starts slowing.

Maybe but i dont get that problem when running other games, on the other hand its quite handy to know where all the enemies are, you just point the cursor and when it starts to get sensitive you know the direction.

Thanks for the quick replies confirming it isn't just me  Pity that it seems to have no fix though. I can't say I've ever run into the issue with Windows alone or with other games however. With other games, everything just slows down if the gfx get overloaded, so I'm not left spinning like a top.

Then again, maybe the game's programmed as such to deliberately recreate the confusion of a heated battle

i think i know why you two don't experience this with other games. i've tweaked the windows mouse control to be affected by accelleration more than normal. i just forgot that i had done that  . this would make desparately moving the mouse have more of an effect. in this game however, i think you may be right that is is deliberatly programed to be confusing.

I get that from time to time ... best bet I find is to raise shield and gallop out of the main fray for a moment. My cavalry will spread out the enemies within a few seconds and I can go back in with normal sensitivity.

More comfort in numbers!

Out of curiosity, at roughly what framerate does mouse performance start to degrade for others? Usually I'm too busy to pay much attention, but even in some of the taverns things get a little jumpy sometimes. It seems to be once the framerate gets to about 30fps or lower that this happens, for me. I'll try to keep an eye on the upper left of my screen...

I wonder if there would be some way to automatically attenuate mouse sensitivity based on FPS calculations? I can almost see a separate slider for tweaking that, in Options. That would theoretically allow players to tune the game to their system.

Incidentally, I tried "disabling particle systems," and that did nothing for game performance that I can identify. Hmm.

Strange, I have the opposite problem. When the framerate drops and things are getting hairy, my mouse gets less sensitive, making turning around difficult.

I also have problems turning when the framerate drops.

I play primarily on my laptop and have to reboot after an hour or so to recover decent framrates.

One way to challenge yourself though is to play against dark hunters or khergit riders with horrible lag if 107% isn't enough for you.
