Man this game is super cool

BUT IT NEEDS SIEGES

is there any news of sieges into the game?

it would be cool to manage your own castle & stuff

to upgrade it from keep lvl 1 to keep lvl 2 etc

what do u guys think is this posible :?:

oh and i'v heard that maw that hardcore mod includes siegeing strongholds and managening them is this true?!

owning castles and upgrading them is indeed possible, sieges may be but are quite useless with stupid ai!

Its just the same with farms and such things!

Dont know what the hardcore mod adds...

A mod might be able to offer some siege battle scenes

You could start either facing the gate where the only path available for your troops is to enter (or use waypoints, do they exist?). Fight there

The problem is that the troops don't know how to deal with stairs and walls.

I haven't looked at it, but you could probably have a system of different battle scenes where you could go from one to another. These scenes could be designed to allow the bad AI to be ignored.

Probably feasable, but not easy, and maybe boring,

Not until the Creator allows it. There is no proper way of making gates (many discussions of different methods though, see the suggestions forum) and as mentioned earlier, the AI just can't deal with buildings.

I think raiding villages&cities could be somehow possible, I remember I made a nice town into the arena in .70x times... It mostly worked, the only thing was the horses which can easily be removed with the editor of course (didn't know that... thing back then)

I think the raiding of small villages would be very entertaining, taking prisoners, ect. However, the besieging of city wouldn't work very well with the size of the armies, and also, siege equipment would have to be made. If there is a way to add siege equipment, it would be a very fun idea.

This is so weird! I was just gonna make a topic asking about a few questions I have.
I'm working on sieging Reyvadin right now, and I'm learning. In due time, I think I can make it happen. The question is: what's the point of winning a siege? (What I propose is that you get money and goods if you win, and reduced prices on goods.)

*Hurries off to make a topic about sieges*

Well after we conqer it we can hire troops for free make farming and the sell the corn, then we can send caravans(this should be in the last upgrade of the castle) and so on

there are tons of great ideeas but because of that STUPID AI we can't do nothing until the next version release or a divine intervention from the creator

@ Stonewall382

Later if sieging is working nicely, it will be very useful for mods also!

Taking cities, castles, farms, wahtever over to a new owner.

The Ai should be able to attack and lay siege to things too, that would be wonderful, but also seems unrealistic to be included any time soon.... *sighs*

i can just see in the last days mod, *drools* the massive seige of helms deap and the minas tirith *drools again* but yeah, AI will be a problem, they just wern't designed to do that, unless seiges are going to be included in the vanilla i don't really see that happening
unless we beat armagan repteatedly, no sorry, petition for it... yes, peaceful...
sorry, crazed power moment then

I wrote out some basics on how siege would work some time ago. The mechanics of siege arent that hard to work out. The problem with siege isnt obvious at first sight but its the consequences that are complicated, not the siege itself.

seiges atm = bad fps + retarded behaviour from the ai.

seriously, m&b is a skirmish game.
with an ai update small wooden defensive...things could be great, but big-ass sieges...no way.

A-freakin'-men. Putting the Czegny Keep siege into Storymod was the most painful coding experience I've ever had, even more painful than spending three hours looking for a missing bracket during my earliest coding experiments.

Agreed. This seems to fit the game's style much more anyway. Kind of a unique idea too since many games have been made already that incorporate sieges but I have not seen many in my years that simulate a good old nasty rape and pillage on an unfortified (or lightly fortified) town. If this game is really pursuing realism it makes more sense too, since raiding and pillaging are undoubtedly more common occurances in history.
