these are all obstacles to be faced, but no it wouldn't a be complete revamp, but yes serious coding would go on.

I'm still trying to figure out how you plan to do that without having any access to the source code...

And the people who try and fails on something always learn something from it would either try different ways around it or move on.

It's time you learn that some things are not possible within your means.

@13asu

Count me in. I think I'm better than you in management, so I think I'll take over.

Not really, I intend to stay open-minded about this situtation even if the problem look purely impossible, it is alway worth a time to try anything impossible or not.  Like I said above, no one would know if its truly impossible until someone try.  So these people who are trying to start this project at least are trying.

Eagle out...

No, not within my means.  It applies to anyone also.  In the past, people have tried the impossible thing and managed to go around it.  Other people who tried and failed, usually tries other way or move on and learned from it like I said above.  It never hurt to be at least 'open-minded' and try something and learn from it and move on.

Is it just me, or does the pessimism of the members just keep getting higher even after the release ?

...

No. You have no access to the source code, no ideas as to why everyone says it's impossible to make a multiplayer mod (memory protection system), and lastly, no real skills. No one will ever join a team when the sole member is "management". "Management" is a term that to me sounds like you're going to take all the credit for work you didn't do. That's fine in a business, where people will come to you for money, but in a voluntary project, there's no incentive to do so.

If it was even slightly possible, the best modders would have formed their own team long ago, not join under a nameless individual who simply wants to "manage" them.

Have anyone ever tried to make a multiplayer mod?

Just let the modmembers make their own mod and learn for themselves if its possible or not.

BWAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!

Sorry, it's just that this post ... multiplayer ... management ... impossible projects ... management ... the irony in this is incredible.

MBA: Let's promise the client all this stuff in a program.

Developer: We can't do that in 9 months with 2 guys.

MBA: Sure we can, I read it in a textbook during my on-line MBA course! Plus, it's too late. I already had the client sign the contract!

Developer: *facepalm*

If all the humans were like you, today we would still believe that the world is plain like a sheet, so just simply shut up for the humanity sake.

Sometimes flapping your arms is just flapping your arms. Sure, there's a small chance that you'll create enough lift, miss the ground entirely, or the laws of physics decides to take a break, HardCode isn't forbidding the OP from trying, he's just laughing at the attempt.

Here we have another champion, good at management ?? Seems you are good at throwing garbage on dreams and initiatives of other people, this is how the 90% of the frustrated people act.

I hope this great idea goes on, and you you can count on my support also if I can't give much in terms of programming and time, by the way to all those big experts around here...if everyone believe in something and put a little contribute for that you will find out that you have lots of resources IN ANY MEANS.

I'm going to argue that everyone on earth is more or less just as frustrated. Sometimes garbage needs to be thrown, if not to teach a lesson, then to at least insure hilarity.

This isn't a Saturday family friendly TV show, some things won't happen no matter how many people support it or "believe in something" if they don't have the expertise. Yes, you'll have resources, but are they the right ones to get the job done? The Engine of M&B is made without the intention of it ever going multiplayer, it is stripped of anything that would enable you to set up a network with it primarily because it would be a waste of space and time to implement something that (in the very beginning) didn't seem likely to succeed.

wodzu 说:
yeah, don't forget to tell THEM it's not possible
Oh, shut up. You know what? Those guys had full access to the engine's source, they could change whatever they want (even though with hard work of course).

But in MaB... oh well, we have some kind of a module system, we can change item stats and... party sizes. I have no idea how you could make MP out of that. But maybe... if we make a troop and rename it to player2 and change the damage of all swords to 100, suddenly a multiplayer menu pops up?

I'd like to know how this C++ expert is going to start this. Opening item_kinds.txt with VC and seeing what happens?
