Multiplayer Map ideas

Have a great idea for a map, but you can't figure out for the life of you how to start making maps. Never fear. Sour Cream and Onion, the amatuer map maker, is looking for ideas.

So post 'em here.

We need a village that has open houses but fewer roofs. A bit more two dimensional, but should make for an interesting infantry-orientated map.

A forest map would be nice.
Apart from that, an urban map would be fun to play in (more like a city than the nord village map).

Jaime, I don't know if there are treeforts available in native

And by open houses, do you mean like you can go inside?

Yeah, have all of the houses be open, though you can slap some doors on them of course. Make the doors as flimsy as the gatehouse door on Turin Castle so only a handful of hits will break them. It would be interesting having all sorts of battles throughout the buildings. The key would be making each building unique so that each room is like a little battlefield all it's own.

I think I'll start with the forest(just seems easier, I'm new at this remember) and then tackle the comprehensive town thingy after I have a bit more experience

i think something like this would be cool, and probably not too hard.

i dont understand why ALL battle players (exept kids from cRPG) cant join in only 1 server? i see in multiplayer that there several servers with "battle" and there r 20-40 players on each. though i think that if their players will join in 1 (for example 22nd battle due to its capacity) we will have very nice battles with many players.

PS i want to kill those who made cRPG - a Lineage2mod in M&B.

because
1. Some people don't like huuuge ass battles with 200 people
2. Some people would lag terribly
3. Some people don't like the community on certain servers.
4. Some people don't like the maps on certain servers

hence they go to servers that they like

now what the **** did that have to do with my maps eh?

-A map set in a "cave" with a very low ceiling forcing the players to use first person point of view for a change.
-A maze like map with a few ladders to go over sides but not to walk on them.
-A plain old square map in which players on opposite sides would take 4 seconds of running to meet the enemy in the middle. Similar to that old battlegrounds map. No ranged or cavalry, just good old infantry in a short yet intense fight.

Basically less reality focused maps and more "arcade-like" maps for a change.

I also like the idea of an indoor map. Perhaps looping some of those large indoor castle scenes together.

A vertical map in the form of many towers of different height connected by bridges, with lots of alternative paths to reach the highest one, plus some gates and breakable doors that can be closed for tactical advantage.
