Greetings knights of all Calradia!

I'm here to talk about the custom battle mode that TaleWorlds has presented to us in the new Dev Blog this week:
https://www.taleworlds.com/en/Games/Bannerlord/Blog/94

It was a feature from Warband but now we have it completed, finally. The point here is that I always loved to play battles with friends like in Total War "1 vs 1" or "2 vs 2" where both players customize their armies before the battle and then they fight between them. What do you think? Should we ask for it? I mean, the customization mechanics could be the same as we have now on the custom battles, just adding the multiplayer option to it would be all (I understand it can be hard work, but maybe not too much). I think it would be amazing to have this, and I don't think that TaleWorlds have considered that.

With nothing more to say, I must leave.

P.D.: Sorry for my english, not my mother lenguage (neither the second I learnt), I come from the spanish forum, hope you understood me and enjoyed the post.

+1

Maybe a mix of custom battle with captain mode? Very much in agreement.  :party:OMay if a 1x1 -2x2... siege could be carried out on a massive scale in a scene with 360º possibilities...Taleworlds was crowned...

Pointless poll, sir. Only people who might be against this is the people who think this feature will prolong the development process.

Perhaps more poeple want to have the game before things like this. Anyways It may give more strength to the post so that our TaleWorlds friends can see it.

I'm genuinely shocked that multiplayer for custom mode wasn't a given option at this point in time. Allowing players to export campaign armies to custom battles and test them against each other without any repercussions would also ensure this mode actually gets used often

Yeah for now it seems like a lot of unused potential to me too.

+1, I'd love to see something like this implemented, even if it could be to against the AI with friends.

Do not worry, your English is fine. And it's quite impressive that you know three languages

Thanks dude, I apreciate that!

I would like to see eveyones opinion about that more than the vote on the poll, one has voted no and I would like to know why, maybe he has a good point.

There seems to be no discussion about what people want. It's a resounding yes  :shifty:
Kaixo, nire bihotzeko laztana! Tell us more Mr. Teje... could you expand your global vision with us?

it would be better if you can add units like in rome total war rather than like it is here

the battle mode was garbage in warband why put it in bannerlord

2 reasons I think players should be able to export their campaign armies into custom battle (and be able to play against each other).

1: as you implied, being able to test out the army you already have in different situations against different enemies would be useful (if people say it breaks immersion, imagine it as a 'wargame' or 'training battle).

2: it would allow us to run a janky, forum based version of a co-op campaign, very similarly to how we would run BOP's around here.

I'll be incredibly disappointed if this isn't in the game in some form. At least a 1v1 Commander Vs Commander multiplayer mode, but as many human participants as the game allows!

The most obvious thing that players want to do with multiplayer is test their single-player skill against other people. Given that commanding AI armies is a major aspect of Bannerlord's potential appeal, it'd be insane not to include a multiplayer version of that - a ridiculous missed opportunity.

(if some people say it breaks immersion, they can just ignore that feature!)

Yes of course, but asking for that seems too much for TaleWorlds I think...

I totally agree with you, what about comparing our commander skills with other players? (and please none tell me that the new 5 vs 5 or 3 vs 3 mode will do that because you command a maximun of 20 units more or less) If you play Mount and Blade with normal difficulty settings on damage, you will only use your fighting skills on early game, late game will be all commanding skills, and it seems that in Bannerlord it will be even more important as battles will have more strategy than charge all or move slowly all.

Maite zaitut aitona.

Well about expanding my vision will be something like Rome II Total War multiplayer mode, where you can play till 3 vs 3 battles, and customize your hole army, here I would like to customize my army selecting units one by one (no idea how to say it properly) I mean, you choose all the units, each unit has a cost and you have money to spend on your army before the battle. for example, 5 Vlandian Knights and 3 Crossbowmen against 10 Sturgian Infantrymen, while having a maximun gold of 1000 and knights are more expensive, but each unit has a cost, not the hole unit group, so that you can select how many troops of each type you want to have. Well the point will be having armies of 300 or 500 selected like that, or selecting even the unit limit. Sorry for the long explanation and my english, just I would like to have the full control of customization, but at this point I only want the custom battle we have now with multiplayer choice. At least the promise we will have it and that they will improve it after realease to this "Total War style" custom battles.

Sorry if I haven't explained myself clear, I'm really enjoying discussing this with you all.

It's not a bad suggestion, but a similar result would be achieved by expanding options for the captain game mode.

As it was presented, captain mode seemed to me to have rather small armies. The individual units were small and the players few (6 vs. 6, wasn't it?). This balance was possibly chosen to keep the player's individual fighting skills relevant, but, as far as I could tell from the videos, the mode falls short of the large battles seen for singleplayer, and also those possible in NW commander mode.

If captain mode had options to customize unit sizes and player count, you could host battles as you desire, with the added feature of the perk system.

I think Captain Mode is different in that there is progression. You start off with a gang of low tier thugs in your little unit, and as you play and succeed in your 6v6 battles, you get to upgrade your troops and your character? (Or have I got that wrong?)

That really isn't the same gamemode as a full multiplayer custom battle.

No, you can choose any unit in Captain Mode, there is no progression. If you choose a lighter weaker group, there will be more of them, that's the trade off.
This upgrading doesn't exist either, you can choose between different perks, but all of the perks and units are available at all times.

Callum_TaleWorlds 说:
The item system from Warband has now been changed to a class-based system, with a perk list to customise your character (such as access to different weapons or better armour). This is the system we will be using across all of our multiplayer game modes. The reasons for this change are: to help with the general balance of the game (between units and teams); to prevent snowballing; to make multiplayer accessible to a wider ranger of players; and to provide a system where players can know what to expect when playing as or against each different type of unit (and develop strategies and tactics based on this).

As far as I can tell, progression has been removed completely. Callum does mention gold though, I don't know how they plan on applying that. In the Skirmish gamemode each unit you play has a different cost, so in a game you could play a light infantry 6 times but a heavy infantry 4 times, or some sort of mix of 5 times. Perhaps they measure how many times you can play each unit by giving them a cost in gold. Though whether you can progress and gain gold based on your gameplay, I don't think so. Though feel free to read through that thread again to confirm or deny

But the limits on Captain Mode are so strict, and even more it is focused on competitive so I wouldn't touch it. I think that Custom Battles are more near than Captain Mode from what I am trying to explain.

There aren’t limits on captain mode. Taleworlds previously mentioned that both player count & number of units are scalable. Meaning you could, for example, have 2v2 battles with 200+ units per player or 10v10 with 5 units per player. Matches with these settings should be available through custom servers or rooms, but whether or not these extremes will be officially sponsored in matchmaking is a different story.

I believe they mentioned it in a blog, but it’s been awhile and I don’t have time to look it up.
