Multiplayer - Captains Mode suggestions

Obligatory intro, great work on your early access release Taleworlds, I'm loving the game and it's quite clearly a rock solid foundation for you to build on over the EA term.

With that said, I also LOVE the captains mode in multiplayer. It's a very refreshing take on Mount and Blade and it's a damn lot of fun to get stuck into a large mount and blade battle in general, but it's even better with human minds controlling their units and formations. Makes them so much more enjoyable to win (or even be destroyed if the battle was good!)

I'd like to throw out some suggestions/wants/Feedback with this in mind.

- I'm a fan of the "control the points" mode, but I'd love to see some Captains Mode Deathmatch added too, where the goal is simply to annihilate your opponents.

- Maps are fantastic, a great blend and mix of terrains which suit all the different unit types, I'm not quite certain they are all balanced in terms of starting locations/control points. It feels that some(particularly the darker castle map) of the maps are tilted in favour of one side, as in they reach the "best" hold points on the map before the other team does. With that said, in line with the above desire to have a deathmatch captains mode, I'd like to see some more open maps too, not saying no terrain at all, but perhaps abit more plains to facilitate a battle mode.

- Rematch Option - If you get partnered right now with a less than able or newer player, you will know about it in the battle. There's not much you can do about that really. But when you do get into a really close captains game (where you are both on 2-2 for example), it would be very nice to have a "rematch" option once the outcome has been decided. A good balanced fight between players is always hard to find, so when one comes around we really need the ability for all players to have a vote for a rematch. This can be applied also to skirmish mode.

- Second stage to warmup phase. After all players have joined server/Warmup mode. On the unit select screen, it would be very nice to have a map of the battle, and allow the players to click on the map to indicate which point they will attack, the unit they selected to player will appear on the map, giving other players an idea of what the hell is going to happen. This would add a very minor feature but I can't stress enough how important it is to offer all of us completely random players even more tools to help us communicate and worth together as a team. Captains mode really needs this, as it feels a lot more strategy orientated. The unit select screen would also go on for an additional 10-15 seconds, allowing people time to prepare their locations and communicate.


I have no doubt I'll add to this as I continue playing. Keep up the good work!
 
Captains mode is really fun. I think a compass rose to help calling out directions enemies are coming from would be a solid addition.

The goal basically is to annihilate your opponent. The points are just there to force an engagement and to keep people from being able to bum rush a position and defend it all game. Typically any game especially one like this, defensive engagements are easy to play than offensive ones. so having 3 points in the beginning and randomly making one of the points actually matter makes it riskier to just move everyone to one spot and set up a good defensive position.
 
My Suggestion is having servers go with around 10 vs 10 or around 20 vs 20 or even higher if game is more optiomized.

Captain Battle would be great make maps more of a field or some variety.

Captain Siege could be unique.

Also I think the Perks could use some variety like more armor types and weapon variations based on class.

Stronghold mod where you gather wood,Stone,Iron and build a kingdom. Could be a hard mod to make but it might be fun.

But when you have three points to capture and a bunch of random players together with little means of communication, you end up with teammates all going their own ways and the battle is quickly lost. So by having a mode without any points at all, leaves no room for there to be any confusion about what the objective is...to slaughter :smile:

The one player going somewhere is due to new players. This went away in the beta pretty quickly so I suspect the same will happen for ea. Removing the points is a horrible Idea as origomar said it will just end up in stalling matches where both teams don't move.

For the select I actually would love that unit types are beeing locked a bit before perk selection is locked due to people often switching last second and destroying the team comp and you can't properly react because if you would switch units you are stuck with wrong perks some times.
 
We had no points in warband. Bannerlords cpt mode is way better. Even the queue for it works nicely, since you dont need to wait till the round finishes which could take extremely long.
Having more players will be done with mods most likely. TW isnt working on MP anyways... end of story ig (except the server guys)
