My biggest gripe with mercs is that it has no upkeep thus no punishment for rocking full plate armor and fully armored horses round after round. cRPG had skip the fun characters that instantly took you to level 30 (more than enough to compete fairly) if you didn't want to grind. Though I much preferred the balance in mercs compared to cRPG

Wearing plate armor slows one down immensely. To be more precise, it decreases the athletics skill as well as approximately halves one's weapon proficiency. As a matter of fact, wearing plate armor is not even optimal for maximizing effectiveness which is why the majority of the Mercenaries players willingly do not use plate armor. I mean no offence but you don't know what you're talking about.

it doesn't in fact slow down cavalry players wearing full armor so you don't know what you're talking about mate

If you had understood what I wrote in my post, you would have realized that I also pointed out that it does slow down your attack speed and it also restricts your riding skill -by requiring to have high strength which in effect slows down the horse- and therefore limits the choice of horses you can use, namely the most heavily armored ones. However, you are correct in saying that one's movement speed is irrelevant when riding horses, I had hoped that that would be obvious in my post. In short -just to make it clear for you as you seemed to have had a hard time understanding the last post- having a slower and less maneuverable horse and much slower attack speed do indeed significantly affect one's effectiveness negatively hence the lack of abundance of plate armor wearers as you claim the opposite to be the case.

I’m not talking about the absolute maximum tier of armor, the amount of armor you can get even with a respectable amount of riding skill is too high.

I think plate is not even worded in the literal sense in most multiplayer medieval games, it's more of plate=big armor percentage nowdays.

I have several complains appart from what I can read here. Maps are just the same textures and even the same places, just a combination (copy paste) of places in other maps to create a new one (are you kidding me?). Also the same lightning, the same textures, the same objects, trees, etc. I am not also happy with the color in general. I don't want "a lot" of maps made in 10 minutes (just the same maps), I prefer art and thinking about how to create interesting gameplay situations, not boring things.

I recomend devs to hire some good artists to help with designs. Human bodies are everything but epic. I like horses, but not humans. I also am not happy with clothes and factions.
The good thing is that devs recognize that this is still in early access (alpha in my opinion), so they have work to do. I feel like playing a warband expansion with more details (not better art).

Maybe in the last times we are getting used to big games with a lot of people working and making great work. The resultt is that this game so far is not impresive at all for me, specially once you have played Warband, because the mechanic (the best of this game) is nothing new (in fact it is the same).
