the marketing/sales apartment thinks like this though

As far as I know there has been no indicator that skins will be purchasable with real money, so I dont think it's a sales department's sector but more of progression.

I believe you are looking at this from a too close mind. I do not think the developers are so clueless to believe that a bad game will have a population just because it has good skins. If skins were founded in the code of the game that's understandable because the code needs to be worked early on to support it. People love to customize, that's just a fact. You can see this in warband's multiplayer mods. C-rpg, mercenaries, even people on PW created faction-specific armor texture packs, hair packs etc. Visual variety is always good, and if it's just a skin then it has no impact on the gameplay, so it's easier. As long as it remains a fun goal and its achievable by playing and not paying, I fully support it. Oh, and lore friendly. No pink armor bull**** please.

Obviously people like customization, except in warband it came in the form of gameplay which was a lot more fun then what a progression system will offer.

You have to also see the disadvantages in this, they are limiting themselves by having skins have to match the classes visually and their armor rating. There is already less customization in the current class system, but adding skins now will also compromise what TW has been using as an argument in favor of the class system, being able to tell the difference in armor visually in the battlefield which the skins are most definitely going to **** up.

I dont disagree here, classes run the game down for me totally aswell. But I just judge based on what we have, which is unfortunately the class system.

To me it just looks like they are trying to use skins as a way to compensate for the terrible customization the multiplayer has.

Except they're going to lock it behind a progression system which will result in newer players be limited to a big part of the game. They won't be wow-ed by the system, a lot of people like me don't want to spend 3000hours unlocking cosmetics. I just want to hop in and still be able to customize my character from the get go with what the game has to offer.

First impressions matter

Ι definitely agree on the fact that they want to offer customization because the game has a severe lack of it due to the classes.

In general, I like progression and grinding for things I want, as long as the game's scope gives me the impression/illusion that the world is much more than just a lobby game. If the game immerses me I can grind. If it does not, then I dont really care. Unfortunately bannerlord MP is rather barebones to justify grind of any kind. For example, I loved grinding mercs, because I had one character, he was someone and I loved doing the achievements. Bannerlord does not give me this feeling. It feels like a lobbybased call of duty game where its just... a game.

its lacking alot of maps aswell, having less than 7 maps for a 10 minute long game is just beyond sub optimal

Mods like merc and cRPG did an amazing job on grind and the satisfaction u have from buying something, i personally never liked playing those long-term grind like those mods are, not saying i never liked grinding like in persistent world where the grind were more short-term in a way.

I guess it depends on how they will introduce the grinding, if they manage to **** this up the class system will really be a massive failure for the multiplayer and i doubt it will recover anytime soon

Definitely and the maps we already have (I play skirmish 90% of my time) have a lot of issues aswell.

wouldnt even mind if they released half baked maps at this point just to test them, so bugs can be fixed early in development (before they never get looked at again)

+1 wish mercs was less grindy

The thing I liked most about Mercs is the fact that it's a light-crpg without the skill grinding. Gold can be achieved by playing the game and through unorthodox methods like dagger-builds, scrims for gold between players and even the dreadful all against certain clan's fortress. It felt like a world and an actual community based game. The grind could be justified because in the most sense, it was a fun AF mod. I believe it could be the pinnacle of warband multiplayer modding if it was not abandoned.

My biggest gripe with mercs is that it has no upkeep thus no punishment for rocking full plate armor and fully armored horses round after round. cRPG had skip the fun characters that instantly took you to level 30 (more than enough to compete fairly) if you didn't want to grind. Though I much preferred the balance in mercs compared to cRPG

I wonder when this game is going to be beta instead of alpha (lots of basic problems). In my opinion it was released too soon and expensive for what it was at the moment. We are all alpha testers for free.

Not really, you actually paid for it.

I agree, I believe that in mercs there are many mechanics that should be toned down, especially the OP armor which is overtuned (actually that aspect reminds me of bannerlord that armored infantry needs like 6 swings to die). I also heavily dislike the crush through hammers on mercs. Chambering is easier in warband but the pings and connections make chambering a very non-trusting mechanic. If I would change #1 feature of mercs that would be to rework crush through. Unfortunately the mod was abandoned very early on but it's still great that people jump in (even to this day) every evening.

I was online last night, and there was 80 oceanic players on siege... it was awesome! .. but where have the servers gone?
It seems they got rid of them without saying anything (sick!). As usual it will be up to the community to fork out money to be able to play the multiplayer in any capacity (whenever we get that opportunity).

I have tried to play a few hrs each day over the last few weeks in EU, and the numbers are dwindling rapidly. Same faces and same outcomes, no variety.

There is a serious battle on TW's hands here, the multiplayer experience is reliant on players, and lots of them.

the game is in early access my friend. thats different from being in Early Alpha. However, it sometimes feels like early alpha so ye I guess ur right

I have faith TaleWorlds will fix the number of servers issue. They arent going to abandon their game in EA!
I only login to the forums to see their bug fixes. I really want this game to be great, but it is not quite there yet
