MP dying real fast

God no. There should be no matchmaking at all. So many games are ruined by this. Mount and blade was fine without it.

Matchmaking brings the worst of people's behaviour out. You get smurf accounts. You get people leaving for stats. Then you get a penalty system for leaving (or having a bad connection). Then people may be sent to purgatory for disconnecting etc etc.

If they drop all and any matchmaking...Click server of liking. Pick team & class. Have fun.

Mark my words. As soon as people can ditch the matchmaking, almost everyone will. And you will be stuck in a queue with a party waiting for ghosts to play with while the rest is having fun on a diverse choice of servers. And taleworlds will have spent a lot of time and money on something almost nobody wants, and nobody needs.
I dont think you understand the idea of matchmaking. The idea is that people on equal skill level play eachother, so if you want to play the game for fun and casual, you're perfectly allowed to do that, but you do so in a setting where the your teammates are of the same mindset. You dont want to be in a game where 10/12 people are competitive and ready to kick your ass and destroy any fun you have because we're there to win.
Even something basic like putting 12 random people into a game and sorting them onto teams based on previous performance is matchmaking, and is absolutely needed for the game to stay alive. Theres been a few games where I've randomly matched up with other competitive players onto the same team against a bunch of new players and I doubt anyone had fun, I sure as hell didnt.

had the same its not even 10/12, usually 2/12 are enough

got matched with some RS and DM, this is how the match turned out...(the first 10 second are pretty much the "match" the rest is just running around the map waiting for the morale to run out)

edit: Skill based matchmaking should be top priority... They need to create it anyways for ranked. (they already got a somewhat working version of it, they already confirmed aswell that they tested it internally)

was a fun little peasant revolt, most of the times people just leave though
Sadly yeah, I had so much hope for a strong multiplayer scene at launch, much less so now... Working with the community would be incredibly beneficial for both parties. Give us the tools, and we'll make the content.

They could give us mapping tools, hold a mapping contest for example and profit with free (low effort) mp maps. They could test them in mp then sort out the bad ones and rework/improve the good ones.

Absolutely and a great idea to interract with their community while benefiting from it. Win win all around! Hell since theres the badges, why not throw in a cool badge for the winner to make them feel extra special.

Thought about the same price, would be cheap to create aswell. Just a few letters in paint will even do the trick...

Tbh the gamemodes are decent.. change my mind. Its only missing some (Duel, Conquest, maybe Battle for RPlers/comp)

On a sidenote, Warband Multiplayer is more alive then ever before.

How the hell do you bake a cake perfectly the first time and then screw up majorly the second time? It feels like the game has been made by people who have never actually even played Warband.

I have 2000+ hours multiplayer in Warband. I had joined this forum on March 2006. I waited for a decade for Bannerlord to arrive.

Totally agree with the original post.

I opened a seperate topic on multiplayer/suggestions. It is about a new gamemode that can fix the problems. I called it faction warfare. Help it out to be popular.

No you totally fail to understand. There is no need for matchmaking at all. It is only designed to force microtransactions. Warband has still today a great MP player scene.

Go and study some MOBA games and see what a never-ending can of worms the matchmaking is. You are probably to young and have grown up with only bad games that are all using gamification techniques to make you addicted and pay real money for skins. The last 10 years almost all devs have fallen for this money-grab tactic. So many young players haven't played a good open game in their life. Warband is one of the last surviving games with an open architecture (=multiplayer mod scene). Taleworlds are busy killing their own baby, and reputation.

The game works perfectly fine without matchmaking. Warband proved it for a decade. It is dumb to change a winning formula. Mark my words: if taleworlds don't change direction on multiplayer, multiplayer will be dead within 3 years.

Its not possible to implement captain mode, skirmish or ranked in any other way. Warband has proven this (wbmm) Having Veterans against complete beginners scared away alot of people if you actually bother to scroll through the warband reviews.

I agree with you though that they should have left siege server based, but we will see how it works out, once server files release. In bigger battles 50v50 or 100v100 skill of a few is way less important, thats the only reason why it somewhat worked out.

Games usually only die if they are mismanaged and dont receive any new content. League is a prime example of this, its pretty old and still alive.

I do think matchmaking would benefit bannerlord with a proper ranking system. New players won't drop the game as fast when faced with other newbies, instead of full on tryhards.

Though the matchmaking should be heavily limited to a few gamemodes. Main appeal should still be custom servers
