I'm running 0.702 currently, haven't updated to 0.703 yet.

Well, this is definitely a bizzare problem. I use Mozilla Thunderbird as my e-mail client since I handle a bunch of e-mail addresses, and I've found that quite often M&B causes Thunderbird to fail connecting to any mail server.
Sometimes I run M&B and it causes no problems; sometimes I notice I'm not getting mail after playing M&B, and find it has glitched again. This glitch continues after I quit M&B. Thunderbird indicates it is unable to connect to any mail server. Closing Thunderbird and reopening it doesn't do any good, it is still unable to connect. I end up having to log off and back on or restart the computer to get Thunderbird to connect again.

I've had this happen about 8-10 times so far and it is ALWAYS when I play M&B. Again, though, sometimes when I run M&B it doesn't cause a problem with Thunderbird. It's intermittent.

Not sure what the cause of the conflict is, but it's rather annoying.

That does not seem to make any sense-- unless M&B is using a library in it's code that Mozilla's client is using (IE, perhaps it's using a DLL that their application might use.) Or, potentially it checks your serial key over the same port as what thunderbird uses to get email (This seems unlikely as email uses a particular port, and in programming many use other, higher ports. Even further, M&B should not be making multiple checks, nor does it ask to act as either a server, nor connect to the internet at ANY other time aside validating your key-- or so Zone Alarm sees.)

Have you checked your machine for any spyware or viruses that might be either using that port, or using your connection in general?

Yeah, it really doesn't seem to make sense at all. As I said, bizarre problem. I actually haven't had it happen in the past few days, but then I haven't played Mount&Blade but a couple of times lately.

I've already thought of that, the fact that M&B should just be doing a single serial check maybe at the start of the program (haven't monitored it to see if that's the case though) and not do anything related to the internet otherwise. The idea of a conflict in a shared library between the two programs is my best guess.

Actually I'm careful about downloads and rarely come across spyware/adware, and even more rarely viruses.
I run Norton AV with the latest LiveUpdates (not necessarily the best AV program, but hey, I like the Systemworks package), Microsoft Antispyware (which they got from Giant, and is actually decent no matter what some might say), and I occasionally run a scan with Sunbelt's CounterSpy which is really the best antispyware I've found. My system's clean, unless there's something none of them is able to detect.
