Mouse problem: Attacks stuck in chamber

I've started playing (well, trying to play) Warband on my new laptop. Runs fine with one exception: sometimes, when I attack, the weapon gets locked in the backswing position and won't release. I can't complete the swing. I can swing just fine when there's nothing in front of me, but when there is an enemy I want to hit or a wall or fence or other object, the swing sticks. Does anyone have a similar problem or a solution?

EDIT: Found this problem in an older thread, but no solution other than "Yep, that's your mouse" was provided.

  Also, In game when I'm riding toward my enemies and I have my sword in the back swig mode sometimes when i release my mouse button he... forgets to swing. Anyone else? Fix? I have reason to believe THIS one may be because of my wireless mouse but I'm not sure, hence this post lol.

Sounds like a mouse problem, yep.

Any help would be much appreciated.

UPDATE: Tried running in windowed mode. Didn't work.
UPDATE: Tried switching to DX7. No change.
UPDATE: Tried lowering sensitivity. Worked for a bit then problem came back.
UPDATE: Tried turning off gaming mouse program. No good.
