Mk, I'm hoping I can make this clear. Um...
How do I change the time it takes to be able to make my horse jump again? It seems to take about 5 seconds from when I land to when I can take off again and I would like to make that interval much, much smaller.

I know horses can bounce; as in land and take back off again from the landing point, and I would like them to be able to do that in M&B so I stop plowing into rocks because my horse is a lazy chump. :3

I'm thinking that my way of changing this is somewhere in the actions text, but I don't know what any of the numbers mean!! D:

I don't want to break my game again, buuut I might try to make some changes and see what happens. :B
If anyone knows how to change it, please do tell. I searched for anything on it in the forums and had no luck. T_T

If that wasn't clear, here's an example of what I mean.

I jump a fence, and before my horse can take another stride there's another fence, I can't jump it because my horse won't jump, so I plow into it and get swarmed by enemies.
Or another good example is when I fly at some khergits and jump one horse, but can't jump the next one... I do that a lot......

Honestly I have no idea, but until you find your answer, you might try not doing the silly reckless things that are getting you killed.

Without being a skilled horseman I think it's pretty realistic the way it is, but I don't know a way to change it...

Hm... well, I'd be willing to make the change even if it is a bit tedious. It'd be nice if it was tied to a higher riding skill but that may have to come later depending on how hard the change is to make.
Small villages drive me nuts because of my horses slow jump rate. It would be more satisfying to the realistic feel (for me) if it crashed through the fence and fell rather than just ran into it and reared like a ninny.(Or just jump when I tell it to. Lazy horse. .__. ) That ticks me off more than anything.
I would stop getting into those situations, but it's too much fun to pretend my horse can actually do what it's supposed to.... but eh.

I was thinking that there was a second based timer at the end of each animation file or something that makes it o I can't re-activate the command within a certain amount of time; I'm trying to find out if it exists, an if it does, how to change it. I'm hoping someone will know, or at least point me to a program that can help?

Horses actually can think for themselves you know. There is NO WAY EVER that you will be able to make a horse crash headlong into a tree or fence. Unless you blindfold it, but that's just mean.

Well, they don't have the AI for it in game, that's what I'm getting at.

Yes, horses don't like to jump by nature, human domestication has dulled that instinct. Horses can and do crash into fences sometimes due to no knowing when to jump, being a bit too old, or having a stupid rider with a ten inch shank bit unable to even BEGIN to give them the proper signals to jump at the right time. Happens all the time. They don't like to jump because it's somewhat o a pain in the butt for them, they can't see things directly in front of them for a few feet so they prefer to avoid it.

Horses are only supposed to carry about 1/4th of their whole weight anyway, and that rounds up to about 400 pounds on a horse like the ones in M&B, that's why they bred things like Frieians and Lippizans, and trained them to rear, kick, strike, and take leg signals and such.

What I meant by the whole crashing through fences thing is basicly, in a game, I would rather he horse go flying through the fence, than stop in it's tracks. giving them AI to jump on their own seems out of reach to M&B. If I could get the horse to jump when I asked it to in the game, the whole, "crash through fences" part would be unneeded since I'd be asking them to jump.

The amount of weight on the horse could hinder it's ability to jump too. jumping with 100+ pounds on their back is hard enough. Horses have to learn how to carry a rider, and the worse the rider, the worse their balance is, they fall off easy, they set the horse off balance, and it is reasonable that they wouldn't know when to jump because said rider is too dumb to give the right signals. A higher riding level requirement for the horse to be ridden could mean better training = faster jump rates.

-___-
Be damned if I ever crashed a horse through a fence in real life. I have enough trouble watching people fall off and keep a grip on the reins. Use a 10 inch twisted snaffle shank bit, have pointed spurs a mile long, put irritants on their heels to make them lift their feet, stuff sponges into their noses to make it so a thoroughbred can't race as well because it can't breath right, ruin their joints because people feel the need to ride an 18 month old, what happens on a double decker cow trailer on the way to slaughter.... and that's just the start of the horrendous cruelty to real horses.
In a game though, I really don't care what happens. It's a freaking GAME.
*rantrant* So yuh, I get the whole "horse nature" blabla crap. Don't care on a game unless it's trying to be superduperomgPETAmightgetus realistic.

Back on topic though.
Still just looking for a way to cut down time between jumps...

That'd probly help...... yuh. Maybe just a tad? But.... dunno how to do that yet:mrgreen:
So, have to figure that out. I'll continue reading stuff and see what comes up here too.

are the horses jumping far enough or too far.. i've never seen a real horse jump over anything but a lame fence, so i really can't figure.  :???:

*headdesk* Maybe someone should tell Ruthven that I like detailed information and that I'm not psychic.

Thanks for translating for me though. My awesome mind reading sensors are broken today. Not to mention I didn't know what hard coded even meant until I got to looking around. :/
Humans call it -breaking- a horse for a reason.
People ask horses to do stupid things all the time. Load them into confined spaces, jump off cliffs, plod into raging rivers... Ehehe.... yuh. >_>; Fence plowing and running into a tree isn't that tough when you have spurs as long as your foot and a spade bit. Should google that.

On another note...
Frankly... horses in M&B jump too high and too far. I could point out all sorts of things wrong with them. I just like to jump over stuff, makes my battles more epic and getting around easier when they behave less like a machine.
Anyway... guess I'll start plodding around and see if I can find a way to make the game display a life bar for them or something next. I'd figure since it was Mount and Blade they'd leave some way to tell when the nag was half head... Or something similar with the shields, that's be nice. @_@
Anyway, I seem to have gotten my answer for the most part and will lock this to get it out of the way, unless Ruthven's announcement is as unfounded as my bed. XD Seems knowledgeable enough though, even with the sentence fragments....
