Wraith Valos

Recruit
I made a hunter character entirely around leadership and mounted archery and I just have to say that I was useless for a vast amount of levels, but now that I am considerably more advanced; my head shot ratio is high, I can simply lead units to attacking me while riding just out of their attack range, and firing all the while.

At full speed with my Spirited Charger, I maintain accurate firepower while my mooks draw attention.

I have to recomend this route for those that have a capable mouse hand that can lead and fire accurately.

Well, see, the thing is that while my Trackball mouse is awesome for drawling along in my OS etc, and it works swell with games like World of Warcraft etc, it's complete bollocks with precision things like archery, so I'm considering quitting on my hunter character (though I've always fancied hunters.) in favour of a squire or something to that effect. It doesn't help that my OWN computer is dead and I'm using my girlfriend's laptop while she's hogging her own powerhouse stationary for WoW. This results in choppy framerates as well, just to piss me off further.

So, yeah... I'm thinking of restarting without the archery.

EDIT: I -did- kick some arse in the beginning, though, when I was all alone against four or five river pirates. Because then I could just sit myself atop a small hill and pluck 'em as they approached. It got worse when I had less time to aim.

I love horse archery tough if I don't play 2 days, I lost my stalent for it and need a day to get the hang of it again

Yes, i remember stating in another post that horse archers are very overpowered. And that if this game were online, nobody would use anything else. Only a foot archer would be able to defeat a mounted archer 1v1, but the mounted would own at everything else. Only problem is when up against dark hunters and they have steel shields...you waste dozens of arrows doing nothing. That, and i consider it almost cheating (ok, so its not really, but kinda cheap anyway) to go back to your storage and get new arrows since you don't even have to dismount and can access it at full gallop.

Just pick off the unshielded ones first. Kill the horses of the shielded ones.

I also keep a sword of war for my HA as secondary which comes in very handy for wasting those waddling suckers with shields.

I tend to go for foot archery. Although i get HS virtually every time...so whilst Horse Archery might be more effective , it's not really when outnumbered. I used to used a sword of war , but find everything's dead befor i need to use it now.

The one thing that is "BAD" About archery is , people in RL practise archery sometime's every day , for year's. Yet you don't see them shooting arrow's through peoples heads at 200 metre's.. (not that i doubt none of them could) , all that i am saying.. is that it doesn't take nearly long enough to get to being a professional archer.

Spirited Charger? If your going all out horse archery you want a hunter or a courser, not a charger.

I used to play as a Horse Archer exclusively; it was wicked fun and made for many an interesting battle.

However, I almost never use the bow now because it's become too easy, much too easy, but more importantly, it's become dull. I've fought and killed at one time or another everything that walks or rides in Caladria.

Now, I just wander the earth, like Caine in Kung Fu.

(Or as I imagine he did, I've never actually seen the show)

I prefer a fast spirited courser with a heavy great axe. I'm pretty sure 42 is the most dmg for a melee (SoW is little bit behind, but bigger reach makes up for lesser damage) unedited. I also have a sniper crossbow, and large bag of javelins. I rush ahead of my army, cut left and right dispatching my foes, then ride back to join my army and attack again.

If theres an archer I use my sniper xbow to kill him, and if I get dismounted, I use my javelins to take down horses (takes too many hits later on against people) so I can face them easilier. Who needs horse archery when you're 2x faster then them and can either snipe/javeline or charge up to em in a heartbeat

I used to use that exact combo , right down to the javalin's. Work's great.

Ah yes. I tried being me the only melee unit while I had all swadian marksmen or vaegir marksmen, but they ended up not shooting, shoot eachother, or shooting me, but if I circle around their entire army, they just seem to follow me and not care about the other 84 people in my army  I ended up trading em all in and training as many Swadian Knights I could and call myself the Band of the Hawk

I actually find it easier to face mounted enemies on foot, just side step when they get close, and hack off their heads with that great-axe

Since you are a Strange One I think that you would like that old show, Bruce Lee pitched the idea and they said "Oh that sounds like a good idea for a show. " but they just didn't have the guts to produce a TV show starring a Chinese man so they ripped Bruce Lee's TV show off and cast David Carridine in the show called "Kung Fu" I love David Carridine as an actor and it wasn't his fault. And he made a pretty good act of spouting philosophy and kicking ass.
