So... how does this matter for a non-online game?

Means I don't have to close M&B in order to have a conversation with someone via XFire.

I never use the program. It seems kind of useless since most of my friends use AIM.

Like...? Care to give an example?

Last time I used AIM, and I had a game going, each time I got a message my game would minimize in the middle of what I was doing, and the AIM window would pop up. It was quite annoying. There's probably some setting somewhere in AIM that fixes that, but I didn't even bother trying to find it. AIM was the most bothersome form of communication I have ever experienced. Xfire just pops up a little window in the bottom-right corner of your game, giving you the first part of the message you received. To reply, all you have to do is press Scroll Lock + X, or whatever combination you remapped it to, and type in your reply. Push the hotkey combination again, and you're back to the game. No minimizing, no alt-tabbing, just quick and efficient communication.

Xfire allows for one-click joining to certain games that support it, such as Counter-Strike: Source. Simply select your friend who is in a game, click the "Join Game" button, and Xfire will boot up the game and connect you to the server. Xfire also keeps track of the time you've spent playing supported games, and displays it on your online profile (if you wish). It also has other features, such as screenshot capturing & storage in your profile, voice chat, and group chats. You can also get an Xfire miniprofile which displays your username, display name, your most-played game this week, and your most-played game of all time. Miniprofiles look like this:

There are other skins for your miniprofile, including a Sci-Fi skin and a World of Warcraft skin. They also come in various sizes, ranging from the default size (above) to the micro size, which looks like this:

Does AIM do this for you?

1) I turned off that pop up message a very long time ago.
2) I usually go away when I'm gaming
3) What use is a chat client if you don't have any people (you know) to chat with?
