Hello All,

Good day, i was able to play M&B tonight on my Vista computer.
I had to :
- allow ring access to unsigned driver when booting my Vista (press F8 when launching the computer)
- copy/paste the missing d3ddx9 dlls in the system 32 folder
- launch the game as administrator (right click when u launch the game exe directly  or properties of the shortcut if u launch it via a shortcut )

For information, i did not install the game yet under vista. It was an existing installation on an external USB drive.
I'll try to make a fresh install soon and will keep everyone updated.

For information, allowing ring access is also good for games using punkbuster like True combat elite or return to castle wolfenstein...

I can confirm that Mount & Blade works fine on Vista 32 bit (well in my case anyway).

I did a fresh install of  8.08 on my Vista Ultimate. No problems there.

I didn`t have to do any of the f8 ring thingy process, the only changes i had to do, was install the latest Direct x 9 (February version) and now all my games are working fine on Vista (except Gothic 3 which has a driver problem)

Until i had installed direct x9 on my vista, i had nightmare problems getting games to work. Now it`s sorted

When I first installed M&B on my vista pc, it didn't work... then a few days later I tried to run it again to see what error came up... and no error occurred... it played fine.

But every mod I've tried playing comes up with an error....  something about a troop file being messed up... can't capture the error... happens fast and closes.

But as I said vanilla M&B plays fine....

Sounds like a bad install.

Try the following:

download the full M&B installer
Restart Vista, set the 'allow unsigned drivers' thing
Right click on M&B setup. Check run in compatability mode (XP SP2) and "Run as Admin"
Install

I tried all the suggestions given in the first post, and - nothing.

My specs are: Win Vista Ultimate, AMD 3800+ and a 7900GT.

I booted up allowing unsigned drivers to do their thing, checked to make sure that my system32 folder had the proper d3dx9_30 file, and tried launching game as admin, in winXP and win98 compatability mode, and nothing. This was with .750 vanilla. I have a fairly fresh install of vista, and I don't have any antivirus apps installed.

What happens is the CPU usage goes up to 50%, and the mount&blade.exe uses up around 8MB of memory, and just sits there doing nothing.

I'm downloading the the latest version right now, so who knows, that one may work.

Try the new version. It's likely a Themida compatability issue with the older version & Vista
