First impressions...

Wonderful new map. I just love the new fell about it, even though you got to get use to the new locations. The roads are a perfect and long awaited addition, but so far I don't know if they add anything to the gameplay. However there are still things that needs to be worked out.

- The first Quest: At Zendar we still can have the legendary River Pirate hunt, however the player is now not able to see the progress of this hunt as in .808, which is frustrating, at least for me  ..
- Villages: They should be conquerable, and you should be able to station a garrison (but not as big as in a castle). You should also be able to build basic defenses such as palisades and perhaps upgrade them with a tower, or two. There should also be more "life" in a village.. People walking around and stuff like that... Perhaps some recruitable hero's could be placed in these villages?
- Castles: Should also be upgradeable to some extent.

I would also like to see more interaction with the "main" characters of the game.. So far the conversations are rather boring and meaningless. Add more quest or favors, or anything for that matter...

Hey, why can;t a join a faction? Every time I talk to Ragnar he says I still need to prove myself in battle.

Just kill people, lots and lots of people, then kill some more.

... Preferably of the enemy faction.

You'll find the "Bookseller" in a random tavern. Just like the others he has no fixed location, so you may have to search a few places to find him. The book prices are in the region of 4000-8000 denars, though, so you'd better start saving.

And it's vicious, too.  Enemy footmen will, for the first time, chamber an attack and hold it until your horse comes within range.  Those of us who used chambering to give our big, heavy weapons a comparative speed advantage (our release vs. opponent's chamber + release) will have to come up with some new tricks.  The bad guys are ready for us now.
