try fighting 250 men on your own (did it took me 1.5 hour to take the city)
but the archer army does not work against city's because the walls of the castle provide much better defence against then the walls of a castle (the empty spot where the ladder stand or the siege tower is supposed to ride against has no wals) making it easy to shoot the men on that spot especiale because enemy troops will keep coming to that spot

I ended up importing my level 35 guy and using the health cheat a couple times. Sucked, but that's the only way to do it. :neutral:
 
I don't really mind that it has to take several game days to capture a city because of the constant
retreat, recoup and renew the attack gig. What perturbs me in any major conflict where I have to wade
into a swarm of enemies is the horrible performance hit I take...My frame rate drops to nearly unplayable
conditions. Just this morning I decided to do the bandits taken over village quest on foot and I couldn't
even play because my fps dropped below 15! I really hope the next update sees some streamlined
coding again like we got with huge performance boost from .808 to .89x  :neutral:
 
The lag can be avoided if you use an older DirectX,i use 7,no lag,battle size on 200,but on DirectX 9...

It does work against cities >_> Just do the killing by yourself until the battle advantage is not so awful

well... i dont know how emty those cities are at your mount&blade but at mind there well over 300 soldiers and im the only 1 of my party who is gone walk upstairs the ladder cas the rest get stuck at the beginning, killed during the iddel, or even stuck at the very last end
and it takes LONG to kill 300 soldiers on your own if you can make it...

I do that already and battle size set to 72 but my rig is a bit antiquated and hope to upgrade
in the next couple of months.  :wink:

AMD Athlon XP 2600+
1 GB RAM
Nvidia 256MB 7600 GS
 
Quest Buggy. If I turn down the quest in any town, .  I turned down the buy some wheat quest.  None of the quest in this town ever come back.
Still siege bug at cities.  the ram too steep and all man stiil stuck. I have 109 man vs 700+ .
I hope in the future version. we could have battering ram to knock down the door.  Seige towers and ladders. fire arrows for defender to burn seige tower.  anyone know any seige mod?
other than that great work compare to Jan 2006 version =)

 
The way this encounter played out in my head:

*Gnobhadi's party comes across a row of men in chains, eyes wide, looking wildly around at the surrounding brush*

G: Ahem. I have come to free you men from your imprisonment by... well, nobody. I also offer you a place in my par--

Prisoner: Shhhhh! They'll HEAR you!

G: ...You realize there's nobody actually holding you prisoner, right?

Prisoner: Mustn't say that! They're all around us! Watching!

G: Look, I can give that lock one good wallop with my hammer here and you'll be--

Prisoner: Shh!

G: You stupid git, there's nobody th--

Prisoner: Pirates!

G: Wha-- like river pirates?

Prisoner: Invisible river pirates!

Yeah the fact that it is imposible to attack citys is a pain in the behind, There is also the problem of hit-tests when theres alot of people on screen at once(arrows going through your target like its not there)

Heres a little pearl of a issue for yas.

When the night comes armies stop fighting, add the fact that the funky causality script that can calculate 0.5 troop fit for battle you get 0 parties. Thought when the sun rises 0 man party will lose the battle but if they were ganging a party with other allied parties they can walk out of the battle with 0/something men. While it looks silly, it is not really awkward when you think they can still travel but not fit for battle.
 
how the hell do you get a village after you become vassel i want two little huts filled with peasents to boss around.
