Mount&Blade: Total War (?)

I wasn't sure where to put this, but here goes.

I was sitting at my PC, thinking about playing Medieval II: Total War, or Mount&Blade, when it dawned on me.

Why not make a M&B mod for TW?

Now, from what I understand (reading tutorials), it isn't incredibly hard, but not very easy either.

And I'm not real great at making textures and custom models (read:I have no idea how), but I figured you guys might be able to help me out.

What do you guys think each faction would correlate with, in association with the factions in TW: Kingdoms?

A list can be found at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Medieval_II and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Medieval_II:_Total_War:_Kingdoms

If I do get a good grasp on this, I may be able to at least have the factions made and ready for custom battles, but I'm not sure I'd get good enough to do a campaign and custom skinning.

Anyway, thanks in advance.

EDIT: Wow I apologize for any confusion due to my typo, I wanted to put M&B on TW, not TW on M&B.

Peanut butter and chocolate these two are not.

So... you mean a TW world with 5 factions + 1 (rebel/bandit/whatever), and you are the King or Khan..? And controll the game like you controll TW? All you want is the armies of M&B to enter the world of TW?

That actually makes sense! Rather good idea : )

I have no idea on how this works concerning legal questions..

I actually hadn't considered legal concerns.

What I wanted was the same gameplay of TW, only with a M&B theme.

I.e. Swadia vs. Nords in an open field, Nords have no cavalry but very strong infantry, Swadia having some good cavalry and crossbowmen, and average infantry.

Not to mention the sieges and such.

Yes.. I can totally see that this would be fun for anyone who like M&B and the TW series.. Like me and you : )

But sadly, I cant mod either on M&B or TW... So I'm all out : (

Well, help I would need consists mainly of listing strengths and weaknesses of each faction to get started.

From there I can work on my own to at least get the factions created and working.

Why? It's nothing to do with M&B mods, he's discussing a TW mod.

this should be on the M2:TW mods board

I don't see why faction association is important or relevant.

Many other threads hsve discussed this. Keep it single issue.

However, despite pressing "Reply" with flame intentions, this idea has grown on me in the past 30 seconds or so.

I actually think it would be really cool. I, however, have absolutely no M2:TW modding experience and I'd recommend asking Taleworlds for permission.

One problem would be the lack of diversity in troops.

Even so, I think it could be interesting. A total conversion would be good (i.e. redo the map, names, troops etc.).

Actually I had an image of this before, it's a great idea. I can get someone on TWF to help you. Go there and look for SSJ, he's a master reskinner etc.

The factions association was merely to get started, since I don't plan on doing skins or textures yet.

I wanted to know if anyone who has played it, thought about which units would look like what M&B faction.

I was considering England for Swadia, but that's as far as I've gotten thus far.

And once I get a good idea of what I'm doing, and if permission is granted by TaleWorlds (I'll email them shortly), I'll get started and make a post on TWC forums.

I didn't post this in the mods section because that is for M&B mods, and I didn't post in the Off-Topic section because this is related to M&B. So naturally this was the forum I chose.

Swadia should be spain or france. Probably france.

crossbowmen and knights.

I'd use Denmark for France, Milan for the Rhodoks, France for Swadia, and the Mongols for the Khergits, of course of course!  And Rus for the Vaegirs.

There's no "France" faction in Native M&B...... I think you mean "Nords".

So the M&B factions replace their real life counterparts, but would it use Calradia as the Map, or the standard Europe map as in M2TW?

Calradia, and the provinces would be all the villages and Towns and castles. Sounds very neat to me. 3-4 minor cities, and then the rest villages. That would mean that the majority of your troops would come from your big starter towns to protect your villages. Now that I think about it, that offers a nice gameplay.

Yes, it would.

This guy has (possibly inadvertently) come up with a great idea.

But, like I said. Seek permission from Taleworlds before you do anything.
