AND OLDEST VERSION OF BETA OF MOUNT & BLADE - 0.601!

https://www.mbrepository.com/file.php?cid=6&id=728

The reason those aren't in the main post Kolba, is because there were new, more stable versions released shortly after that fixed numerous bugs. I wouldn't suggest downloading them unless you need to.

Ok, no problem. Those links were from the beginning just curiosity for all who wanted to see how M&B was changed.

This thread deserves a sticky. A reminder of the days before Mount and Blade was bogged down in over complication. 623-751 was a golden age.

We already have too many stickies, if you ask me. It might be something that could be movied and stickied in the Apprentice Guild.

Very nice, except that the oldest version actually .210 (I assume that's the download we got on april's day.)

It's close. The first version was 0.201 but that one didn't have cheats and such. This version is 0.210 which is almost the same.

Some sad news here.
Downloading the install file for M&B731 (mountandblade_0731_setup.exe) was stopped by my antivirus program, and the downloaded file that I allowed to be saved says corrupt when I try to install.
Is there a replacement 731 that can be put back on the repository?

It's a direct download from TaleWorlds, you shouldn't have any problems. Are you using a download manager? My only suggestion would be to turn off your anti-virus and download manager, then download the *.exe as you normally would. I've had no trouble with that file, and just re-tested it.

I tried a test on the file.
I downloaded with no antiV running, installed and ran the program and all works just fine.
THen I scanned the install directory and the results say the virus is in the mount&blade.exe file.
I am thinking that the antivius program doesnt like it, and that does not make it a virus though.
I run Avast for antiV, never had a problem before.
I can not believe the executable for M&B 731 is infected from the repository so must be a quirk in the avast methods.

The file is from TaleWorlds, not the M&B Repository. It is the same site the forums are hosted on.

Yes, that is correct, and was wat I meant to state, early AM stuff I guess.
Either way, it can't be the taleworlds file, has to be a quirk in the antivirus.
For now when I am studying the module for modding, (learning curve here) Ill just disable my A/V

Thank you for yor thoughts and wisdom Septa Scarabae.
I very much appreciate the responses.

all old versions here work fine as of today, I tried em all out in the last 24 hours

No trouble at all. I imagine it has something to do with the anti-virus program. A lot of the time, unrecognized files will come up as potential threats. Not because they are, but because the anti-virus program doesn't recognize it as a legitimate file.

If you computer does take over your house, and run for governor, be sure to let us know, though.
