The news is spreading very fast :

The well-known games reviewer strategyinformer site says : http://www.strategyinformer.com/news/20085/mount--blade-2-bannerlord-announced

pcgamer also : http://www.pcgamer.com/2012/09/28/mount-blade-2-bannerlord-announced/

RockPaperShotgun has an article on this as well. http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2012/09/28/its-finally-real-mount-blade-ii/

They discuss bout MB2 even on gamespot : http://www.gamespot.com/forums/topic/29296578/mount-amp-blade-ii-bannerlord-announced

Hopefully the game will potentially support 222 players or more like Warband before it. With all the hype there's going to be so many people in the first few weeks.

Oh hell yeah.. Good to be back and then see this great news?

This has saved my week.

Spread the news everyone, we the people will make Mount & Blade a success once again. This game has the best combat system ever made ever!

Obviously, all conjecture...

M&B 2 Setting
1) It will not be Calradia. It won’t be fictional. It will be a quasi-realistic setting.  Source: Search for a podcast by “Just Press Start” with TaleWorlds’ Mika’il Yazbeck – when discussing future settings he says there is a higher demand for real settings, and that TaleWorlds will not return to a fictional land in future iterations of M&B.
2) It will include Naval warfare, therefore the land will have sea-going areas, possible islands or major rivers. Source: Caribbean!, the M&B new DLC has a large emphasis on naval warfare, and the programming has been done by TaleWorlds (see interview with Caribbean! makers).  No reason why they wouldn’t include this.
3) It will be medieval, middle ages. Source: PC Gamer interview.
4) The infantry unit in the teaser trailer is wearing a classic Norman helmet.  Features include a strong nasal protection, with chain-mail around the back of the head.

Guessing:  it’s based in and around the Norman conquest, 11th century – British isle/Normandy etc. Or possibly a Nordic theme around Scandinavian themes – Kingdom of Denmark/Norway etc.  This would deliver on the naval potential, and date it around the right era.  Or Anglo-Saxons (e.g. King Cnut...make sure you get the spelling right ) vs Scandinavians (Vikings etc) – this would be a bit earlier (9th/10th centuries+).

Personally, I hope that it is a fictional setting, as there is more scope for an interesting/original landscape design...but just preparing people for what is likely...

Mikail Yazbeck is no longer with Taleworlds. However, in the recent chat I had with Captain Lust, The community manager for Taleworlds, he said the following;

[14:04:46] Goker: You are doing Calradia again, aren't you?
[14:04:49] Frank: It will be a Taleworld.

So I'm pretty sure that it is a fictional world, that won't be restricted by the real world events but influenced by it. Like Calradia. Hopefully, it will be that way. Because I'm also pretty sure that people will make modules for certain eras and fictional stories.

Then again, I might be wrong. I hope I'm not.

Good good, I hope so. The European map has been well and truly done!
