<p><em>Hello all! This time around we're bringing you an externally written blog, by the team working on the music for Bannerlord. There are samples from the soundtrack and some detail about what went into creating the authentic feel for the game's OST!</em></p>
<p><strong>Finn Seliger, <a href="http://www.periscopestudio.de" target="_blank">Periscope Studio</a></strong> - With the soundtrack of Mount & Blade 2 one of our main goals was to create a characteristic music piece for each faction – a kind of hymn – that should reflect the faction in terms of culture and attitude.</p></br> Read more at: http://www.taleworlds.com/en/Games/Bannerlord/Blog/11

"Bannerlod Dev Blog 473 - Butterflies rendering", 14th September 2132. Still no real news about the game. I keep waiting for a release date since my grandpa told me about this game long ago. My mom says I'm crazy to believe in my grand father's legends. But I still think there could be hope.

Is your personal text a DW reference?
It is one of the war cries from GK mod for Native. Like you can shouts things such as my personal text or "Hail to you, brother of war" with a, what seems like a samurai voice. By the way, what is DW?

Those voices are actually taken from native M&B, and I think they occur before battles (with bandits if I remember rightly).

Yes, I remember hearing that one. DW stands for Deadliest Warrior, an expansion for Chivalry: Medieval Warfare. I just realised that the one from DW is actually a different one.

I am quite surprised that people love these soundtracks so much. I prefer the Warband ones, and even better the ones from "With Fire and Sword" and "Viking Conquest".

Such awful taste, I bet your waifu is nami from one piece.

just posting to watch the topic, don't mind me...

We want a new blog faster. 3 and a half month, this is not the thing we have been wishing for. And by the way, when the people do something, actually make them do something, like the lady is pouring nothing, instead, get liquid in that jar. Make the game a lot better. And better faces to.

Bet you have absolutely no idea how things are coded. The basic understanding, of how time-consuming the addition of a new mechanic can be, is lacking.

Or maybe you're just sarcastic.

Are there any games that have actual liquids being poured from jugs/bottles? I can't remember seeing anything like that in Skyrim (as an example of a modern, AAA title. Yes it is a few years old but is the sort of title which I imagine is still a high benchmark for most rpg developers). Either one has to animate something which looks like liquid flowing from the jug or have an engine that supports 'real' fluids, which is not really a consideration unless your game is about white water rafting.

I don't know if you are being serious with 'make the game better'. Obviously they are going to make it as well as they can, so the instruction is superfluous. It also suggests that you think it's not very good right now- what do you base that on? The lack of liquid coming out of the jug? Everything so far looks like a significant improvement to me over Warband. The faces for example, which you think need improving, already look good to me (others have expressed their admiration too) and are definitely much better than Warband's.

i agree! i cant remeber any game with poured water/liqur from some jugs or whatever when i think about it. but it dosent bother me if there is something coming out of the jug or not haha.

water physics is such a minor detail, if it wont affect on the gameplay why even botter doing 20 or more lines of script to make water flow on jug ?

These are all wonderful pieces and I have strong preference to unusual/strongly ethnic instruments that you don't hear anymore. Reminds me of bits of the Suikoden soundtracks, which have a strongly ethnic flair(for the time they were produced).

Uniformly however I feel like the early sketches are more enjoyable than the final peices. Sorry if that's possibly hard to hear and I dont like to knock things that have ambition, but i feel the overly orchestral flare reminds me more of some big budget micheal mann movie than a lonely collection of warriors atop a hill planning their next strike. Not being a historical music expert, but having more than 3 or 4 instruments playing at a time feels more like something from the 15th+ century than the 9th.

Perhaps it would be too much to ask, but maybe both versions of the tracks could be in the final. Possibly, a smaller band has music more like the sketches, and larger 1000+ bands have orchestral music... Just an idea.

edit: having now skimmed the thread I'm happy to see the same idea has been echoed around. I often find when games try to make music more epic it eventually just leads to uniformity (ok here comes the big drums) as if instead of making the music smarter it just wacks the drum harder. In the case of the Sturgia, the beginning bit is so beautiful but then in the final its just BANG BANG BANG and REVERRRB (or echo chamber, the string instrument sort of bounces around).

While not actual liquid, it's probably one of the best done to date in a game(and it's still alpha)

Thanks Chompster; I've seen some of Deliverance before but not that vid. It looks ok (the pouring effect I mean; the general game of course looks great), but did you follow it through to the end of the brewing? Apparently it is an antidote, but the last ingredient added was coal! Not sure what ingesting coal is meant to cure, apart from being healthy  The way the character interacts with the items is great though, picking everything up, working the bellows (which looks great, as do the fire effects). Very attractive game.

Do not look here 说:
I much prefer it empty jugs doll party style rather than how it is in that vid, to be perfectly honest.

Yes, it looks a little messy at the moment doesn't it, maybe if they toned down the effect somewhat it would be better.
