Hello all! This time around we're bringing you an externally written blog, by the team working on the music for Bannerlord. There are samples from the soundtrack and some detail about what went into creating the authentic feel for the game's OST!

Finn Seliger, Periscope Studio - With the soundtrack of Mount & Blade 2 one of our main goals was to create a characteristic music piece for each faction – a kind of hymn – that should reflect the faction in terms of culture and attitude.

Read more at: http://www.taleworlds.com/en/Games/Bannerlord/Blog/11

I'm surprised how some people are so unappreciative of this blog. I understand not everyone cares about the music in video games but that doesn't mean everyone feels that way. I for one feel music is very important since it sets the mood and it's really great for immersion.

Great tracks, by the way, the final results were amazing. It's hard for me to decide which I like best but Battanians and Vlandians sound awesome!

I liked all the songs, but, I think some instruments can't be heard very well in the final results because of all the other orchestral instruments. A good example is the Empire song.
But they're all really good! My favourite was the Vlandia (or Vlanda? "For the Vlanda theme for example, the main melody..."- that's written before the guy with a hurdy gurdy instrument picture), it really sounds great.

Wonder what you might do with that when all the wine is gone eheheh.

uh, keeping with the topic I hope they've fixed female model rigs... Mount & Blade's were fine but Warband did a number on their skeletons and gave them curves were they really didn't need any in armour. I don't think we've seen a close-up of a female character's face either yet. Character creation was pretty limiting for women before, though I'm thankful they were there at all.

i cant wait to play the hell out of this game

Also the songs are great a really big improvement from warband

Now just another 5 F***ING MONTHS before a new blog -_-

It was less than 4 months actually, and there hasn't been a longer gap than that between any of the blogs.

This past one has been the longest coming yet, and that's the point; they're progressively taking longer and longer to come out.

People are really excited for this game. I don't mean to pester anyone but it's gotten to the point that I'm refreshing the page so much in between blogs I'm amazed TW hasn't started putting ads on the website, because they're missing out on a fortune in traffic revenue.

I get the feeling that they want to save all the really cool stuff for release, and that is admirable. I can also understand waiting to unveil things like the battle's and weapon models and such until they are in what they consider a presentable state.

But come on give us something man. Little things. Lore. Character art. Talk more about the company, I'm sure many here would be very interested. Please, take your time with the game, make it as awesome and spectacular as we've dreamed of, and if there are some things that you want to save til later, that's fine. But 2-4 months is a bit long to wait for updates on things like hair models.

I think this took so long to come out due to viking conquest release.
However what we need is something that allows us to understand the % of completion.

It isn't actually taking progressively longer- this is just about the longest gap yet, but barely. The gap between 6 and 7 was about the same, almost four months. The gap between 7 to 8 was one month. It just seems to be random, not progressively longer, though it is true that the first few were more frequent. However they have never established a regular time gap between blogs, and it has gone up and down throughout the series, with this last one happening to be the longest.

That isn't to say I wouldn't like to see more frequent blogs, I am as interested in eye candy and new info as anyone else.

I enjoyed the early sketches more than the final results - Aserai excepted - the issue with 'epic' is how quickly it outstays its welcome, and how seldom it suits its context. One has to remember that people will sink countless hours into this game, and though there's certainly room for dramatic music - in battle specifically - I feel more can be achieved with tracks that allow one to sink into some sort of a trance (a beat, a rhythm accompanying one's actions - Hotline Miami's soundtrack is a great example of this in a completely different style) than with bombastic battle music imposing itself where unnecessary (picture yourself riding down looters to this) heard again and again if the battle frequency of Warband is anything to go by.

This being said I'm definitely looking forward to more, thanks for the blog!

I am quite surprised that people love these soundtracks so much. I prefer the Warband ones, and even better the ones from "With Fire and Sword" and "Viking Conquest".

I don't know, they kind of got boring after a while. Well I guess these might eventually.

Is your personal text a DW reference?

Just occurred to me, probably someone mentioned already, but these sound more like total war songs.
