Ohnozors Mic you're subverting the "archers are poorly armed and armoured weaklings" thing.. how will we ever get game balance now?!

that's what i'm thinking, its about roleplaying, as i'm playing as a khergit, i just where this

not much defence at all but it looks fashionable

edit,

i just love the felt hat

I roleplay realistically. If I'm playing a knight, my kit will be plate or mail, with a great helmet, a heater shield, mace, longsword and a lance. If I'm playing a mounted archer, I wear light armor with a bow and arrows, a light shield and a sword. I don't wear kits that are unrealistic. Going sheildless is not only a bad idea game wise but pretty inaccurate historically.

heh, the hats makes him a leprachaun or a circus clown

, if only it came in a different colour, i always wanted to have the symbol of my banner on the back of my robe, or on the front of my felt hat, would look pretty good

Archers in my knowledge would wear mail halbaurks or mail shirts if they could afford them or simply paaded haurbegeons. Plate armour restricts movements and archers are traditionally lightly armoured ranged units used to weaken an enemy appraoch. If they get into melle then theres something wrong, although the lack of armour in the battle of Azincourt for archers was a bonus as they were faster then the French Knights who were stuck fast in mud. Even with a speed bonus though, they couldnt stand a long fight. You wanna ask ludial, hes the archer type.

That be as it may, there are a fair few accounts of archers wearing plate armour. Obviously they're not fully kitted out as a horseback knight would be, but still some pretty serious protection.

Yes, I think half plate would be as far an archer would go before it became too much.

I do remember seeing fully armoured archers in Medieval 2:Total War, but we all know how realistic that game is...

 leather jacket with heavy metal patches, a christmas hat and a hippy shoes xD

I like plate, I look ridiculous whenever I bring out my war hammer wearing nothing but thick nomad armor, sturdy light leather boots, and a thick segmented helm (though I move ridiculously fast).

you do realize the light leather boots look hideous with anything but light leather, right  Same kit for me, except for the boots. I go for ankle boots.

If I was to play for style, I think I would take Nomad Boots, a Black Hood, a Robe and no gloves.

Plate was almost never used with a shield...

The Garde écossaise ("scottish guard") of the French kings were as kitted out as a horseback knight... But it was a troop of 25 men, not representative at all.

I usually wear mail with a surcoat or some variation on that. It's very strong and I think it looks nicer then cuir bouilli's or banded armors. (Not to mention plate armor and coat of plates.)

I usually aim for lamela armor since it is cheap and effective. Once I have the money for it I will buy plate.

Ever considered that some people wear the less protective armors because of the speed factors? And because it looks better?

But honestly, I wear the same type of stuff my soldiers wear, usually. As was mentioned earlier, it's all about roleplaying.
