So I scrolled the Forum and I was all like "Hey have some thread for MB2 with neat ideas from the community!"
I searched for something like this but did not found anything so if a thread like this already exists me sorry.

Sooooo. Thanks for the Dev's for putting out this awesome game and now onto cool ideas and Wishes from the Community how MB2 could be.
Maybe the Dev's will like some of the Ideas.

Just to start with some:

- A voicemenu for multiplayer with some tactical comments and "Maximum Rage" yells.
- Some gestures like hitting the shield with your weapon for taunting the enemy, the original MB "YEAH WE WIN" gesture for multiplayer etc.
- The same awesome atmossphere of the original with deep storylines of the various Characters.

Post your Ideas people

First of all - Mount and Blade was made by TWO people and look how great it is! We look at big companies and how they fail and we look at two people and see how they succeeded in making an epic game from scratch. Now that they have more money, things can only get better. You have to say WELL DONE to the people who made it.

My wish list:

- New engine. Warband seemed like a module for Mount and Blade and honestly, half the stuff in it had been implemented into modules for the original and that's also including new animations. It was an annoyance to see it with a price tag which is why I never brought it. I received it as a gift though and I will admit that I enjoyed it but apart from the multiplayer, everything else was in the original with or without modules.  A new engine should be built.
- Proper sieges. We should be able to fire catapults and the enemy should be firing from the walls with flame arrows. Once the wall goes down, melee units from the enemy should charge towards us.
- Fully voiced. Most dialogues were just repeats in Mount and Blade, getting a few voice actors to voice a few lines shouldn't be a problem. Also have the character voiced - not for when he/she speaks but for when they issue a command. I want to hear my character actually yell it and I want to hear allies and enemies alike yelling out things in battle.
- Defensive formations, offensive formations and so on.
- More armour and weapons. Perhaps even a cape which would suit a game like Mount and Blade, if you are a noble or lord, your cape could have your coat of arms on it.
- Able to forge a knight order or join one. Knight orders could be dedicated to a holy purpose of clearing the land of all bandits and villains, or finding a holy relic, while others could be fighting against one another. Eventually you could rise to the top of your order if you didn't make it. This means that not every character ends up being a lord or king. There should also be only one headquarters for each knight order.
- If you kill villagers, lords should employ mercenaries to hunt you down. If you kill large amounts of bandits, the bandit leader of that area should gather his group of bandits to attack you or hire assassins to kill you or something.
- Roads should play a larger part. Merchants and other travellers should actually be using them and they should be protected by guards, however some areas could have no protection meaning that you could establish a camp there and attack passers by for their gold.
- There should be other adventurers in the land who game fame throughout the game unless you kill them.
- Lords should be able to be killed. However, it should take many goes to kill them and most times - you just knock them unconscious due to their armour and they escape after the battle. If captured - kill them, but lose massive amounts of honour which could prevent you from joining a kingdom or gaining more in the kingdom you are in, release them or hold them to ransom. You should also be able to chose who you get to ransom them to. Perhaps ransom them to another kingdom or sell them as a slave. Selling them as a slave will lose you honour though and if that lord escapes one day, he should come straight to you for revenge.
- Marriage and children - if you have a child, years past and the child is 16. You then decide who she/he marries and if they go to war with you.

- uniforms: a cape or tabbard to show which faction a troop belongs to. Then i can get rid of those floating names and it just looks cool to see a wave of (for example) black and yellow soldiers charge over the hill

- agreed on other adventurers. Something like Xerina and the other arena fighters, who get killed instead of captured like lords, but have a similar chance to avoid so

- Sieges are fine. Adding catapults etc will make it unneccessairy complicated.

- more possibilities in formations, such as splitting infantery in 2 groups, let the archers make 2 lines instead of 1, etc

- as you gain fame/renown, have people actively seek you out, for the honor of defeating you. Similar, as you pass a certain level of renown gained in arenas, start to lose some if you do not win. People will be disappointed that the champion lost.

- betting on other fighters in the arena! make a fortune betting on Kradus!

(In other posts i think i already sufficiently expressed my admiration for the M&B project, plus i keep on spreading the word about the game to any friends or colleagues who seem to enjoy games)

- realistic armor coverage. for example make helmets only protect what they are actually covering and not the whole head. a sophisticated hitzone system is needed here

- directional shield blocking to make shield fighting less boring

- off-hand weapon mechanic for daggers/dirks/etc., if the sequel plays during the renaissance period

- improved physic for projectiles, bringing the havok engine to a use. let arrows bounce off hard armors/shields/walls if they hit in a reflex angle. hitboxes for a wielded weapons too so they can be hit as well.

- improved weapon connect mechanic

- more weapon uniqueness and mixed damage types. Axes for example should do both blunt and some cutting damage (like 60% blunt, 10% pierce and 30% cutting), military hammers could do 20% piercing and 80% blunt, morningstar 60% pierce, 40% blunt... etc.

- better weapon sweet spots

- better combat movement

- rigged helmets

- better human body model

- ninja sharks

i have an idea. if I siege castle or town main battle going on the walls, if town has 350 soldiers, and my army killed 166 I supose that nearly 200 left, they should defend they town on the streets and in the castle. it's always stupid for me to kill only half of garrison and conquer entire town. it will be more interesting to fight all over the end.

hey, i like your ideas. Especially the last one!

Some people want to see M&B turned into a medieval shooter, methinks. I, on the other side, would prefer the strategical side to be more of a focus, so that it is less about pure battles and more about long term strategy:

- Better opponent and ally AI
- More realistic campaign options (distracting, razing that has a effect etc.)
- More troop diversivication
- Formations!
- Diplomacy
- Enhanced empire building options

etc...

As SMST said, I also want some better strategy for the campaign, and even the addition of complex tactics in battles.
I think the command screen should be modified to show terrain to an extent, and you can command which direction your troops face, and how deep their lines are.

In addition, the hand to hand combat could be made much more fun & interesting if the individual bots' AI were made smarter.

HIRE PROFESSIONAL MAPPERS

I want a proper open 3d map to roam around, instead of a 2d mini map and 3d minuscule locations you load into (which dont have proper skyboxes).

pherhaps too challenging but please at least make semi decent maps, extended skyboxes and horizons. not just stupid ugly hills to hide the non existant horizon.

plus

- customisable buttons, especially for directional attacks/blocks
- maybe actually historical this time instead of in caladria? (age of empires 2 taught me more history than school ever did)
- still want a medievil japanese faction (I dont like total war that much)
- dismemberment, glore/blood
- better sound/voice acting in battles, people screaming - taunting - swearing - would be extremely immersive (think bad company 2)

An actual economic system. As of now, war has little economic consequence. I want to be able to cripple a faction's economic base and by corollary, it's source of manpower.

I'd like to see more in depth administration options. The possibility of new types of government. Maybe I don't want these nobles, maybe I want to form a Republic. I want to see something like the civics in civilization 4. So that you can tweak different aspects of the government. (Power to the People!)

1) Combo system: 2-3 hit combo and not that Dynasty Warriors hack-n-slash mess. Let the AI counter each other based on chances, thus making the fighting more realistic and not a competition of who has the most hp.

2) A dialogue system that is similar to the Fallout series.
Ex: Let's say you don't want to fight a battle and if you have high stat points in Speech, you can negotiate with the enemy commander; whether it is surrendering a certain character, a town, or other things that caused the war.

3) Progressive: Towns can grow as time passes, which will become cities, and maybe a capital. Progressiveness of a location depends on various factors: (A) Maybe a group of bandit is preventing a town from growing. (B) A certain corrupted official is looting this area and/or stole all the rations for him/herself. (C) Inadequate amount of resource is holding back the town. (SOLUTION) If the player decides to help this area, not only will this place grow bigger but inhabitants will respect the player more. Maybe even joining the player in his adventure or revolting against the government. As town become cities, there will be more buildings (blacksmiths, barracks, horses, walls, etc) and technologies (fishing, animal breeding, mills, mining, lumber camps, unique skills that the player can learn, etc).

Village --> Town --> City --> etc...

Each advancement introduces new types of weapons, units, and culture to the location.

4) Mercenaries: Not the weirdos from the inn, but special units from foreign countries.

  • Advanced AI, Combat AI, townsfolk AI
  • Being able to form any kind of group you want, without having to be kind. If you want to form a bandit group yourself, you can do that. People and outlaws start joining your group/clan/kingdom/trading company etc when you get high reputation. For example, if there are 3 bandit groups already, and you decide that none of those groups are anything to have, you can start your own group and pillage and kill everything in sight etc. When outlaws and random folks see that this group have potential they consider joining this group instead.
  • AI should be able to form new groups as well. If they don't like their king/clan leader/bandit leader/ merchant leader or whatever, they should also be able to create their own group whatever the group is.
  • Sieges with siege weapons and destroyable walls and doors.

This "create your own guild/clan" etc have been on my wishlist for elder scrolls for a long time. Where YOU are the leader of the guild. Where you make the missions! Maybe if you start a assassin guild, you can order your guild members to assassinate someone.  (yes I know you can become the leader of a existing guild. But its more like a image. you don't really "rule" anything.)

1)HUNTING! I want to go hunting with my bow and arrow, into a forest and full on snipe a deer! Dinner to my party!
2)Inflation, I know it sounds odd as I've never played a game longer than around 4 years before I started a new game, but the ability to invest in wheat here, wait a month, and sell to gain a cool 100 denars.
3)Weapon misfire, the lower the proficiancy, the more likely you are to stuff up and your arrow fall the the ground.
4)I agree, death to the nobles, hence, we need an "active" family tree, one where kids actually grow of age and new ones are born.
5)I wanna make my own weapon! Custom made, Masterwork Bastard Sword.... Oh Yea!
6) Training your horses, I wanna be able to buy a horse, and train him to plow through the enemy without hesitation myself!

Own house or cottage:

town - house
village - cottage

When you're a mercenary(not a vassal) long enough, you should have a place to stay.

You can buy house in the town and cottage in the village to live there.

- free rest
-chest
-medicine cabinet
-personal training ground
-wife/husban feasts
-horse storage and de-lameing
-place for your family ....

I'd like more individualization added to your troops.
-Stat differences between troops of the same type (and stat differences have a bigger effect)
-Possibly be able to promote regular troops into heroes (not make them invincible though).
-I never thought of this till I read Azincourt but I'd like to see some kind of chain of command kind of thing added to your troops.  What I mean is that lets say your party has 100 archers.  One of those 100 would be a centenar, a leader of a group of archers, and for lets say every 20 archers there would be a ventenar.  It would be mostly be cosmetic but I think it would be really cool to have the best troops of your army selected to act as officers (who possibly get stat bonuses or have morale effects on the troops they lead)
-Bigger differences between bow types,  a wimpy little hunting bow shouldn't behave identically as a 100lb. draw longbow.

I like the thing with marriage and children from blackNERO. other things I would wish:
- not only horses but also maybe elephants for a faction from the south or camels
- more actions to do in your castle, maybe start a own tournament or a festival
- more fighting actions, eg you spin around yourself an get +100% when you're on foot
- a real viking faction in the north with other troops as nord
- a real story that means quests that you have to do and not only free game (it could be two parts to play: when go to main menu you can choose "free game" for the game how it is now or "story" where is a story line that is more direct... just an idea)

I like these ideas. If there was two modes, they should have it where you can import your character from one mode to the other like you can with modules.
