First of all - Mount and Blade was made by TWO people and look how great it is! We look at big companies and how they fail and we look at two people and see how they succeeded in making an epic game from scratch. Now that they have more money, things can only get better. You have to say WELL DONE to the people who made it.
My wish list:
- New engine. Warband seemed like a module for Mount and Blade and honestly, half the stuff in it had been implemented into modules for the original and that's also including new animations. It was an annoyance to see it with a price tag which is why I never brought it. I received it as a gift though and I will admit that I enjoyed it but apart from the multiplayer, everything else was in the original with or without modules. A new engine should be built.
- Proper sieges. We should be able to fire catapults and the enemy should be firing from the walls with flame arrows. Once the wall goes down, melee units from the enemy should charge towards us.
- Fully voiced. Most dialogues were just repeats in Mount and Blade, getting a few voice actors to voice a few lines shouldn't be a problem. Also have the character voiced - not for when he/she speaks but for when they issue a command. I want to hear my character actually yell it and I want to hear allies and enemies alike yelling out things in battle.
- Defensive formations, offensive formations and so on.
- More armour and weapons. Perhaps even a cape which would suit a game like Mount and Blade, if you are a noble or lord, your cape could have your coat of arms on it.
- Able to forge a knight order or join one. Knight orders could be dedicated to a holy purpose of clearing the land of all bandits and villains, or finding a holy relic, while others could be fighting against one another. Eventually you could rise to the top of your order if you didn't make it. This means that not every character ends up being a lord or king. There should also be only one headquarters for each knight order.
- If you kill villagers, lords should employ mercenaries to hunt you down. If you kill large amounts of bandits, the bandit leader of that area should gather his group of bandits to attack you or hire assassins to kill you or something.
- Roads should play a larger part. Merchants and other travellers should actually be using them and they should be protected by guards, however some areas could have no protection meaning that you could establish a camp there and attack passers by for their gold.
- There should be other adventurers in the land who game fame throughout the game unless you kill them.
- Lords should be able to be killed. However, it should take many goes to kill them and most times - you just knock them unconscious due to their armour and they escape after the battle. If captured - kill them, but lose massive amounts of honour which could prevent you from joining a kingdom or gaining more in the kingdom you are in, release them or hold them to ransom. You should also be able to chose who you get to ransom them to. Perhaps ransom them to another kingdom or sell them as a slave. Selling them as a slave will lose you honour though and if that lord escapes one day, he should come straight to you for revenge.
- Marriage and children - if you have a child, years past and the child is 16. You then decide who she/he marries and if they go to war with you.
