Aratek

Squire
This idea was created by General SpecificAll credit goes to him.

I just felt like making a new thread.

So basically, it's describing your character.  Most likely this character was or will be used in The Role Play.
But some of them are just characters from your imagination.  They don't have to be the ones you use in M&B.

Include:
 Name.
 A history of your character.
 Trivial Matters.
 Skills.

Thanks for this idea General Specific, it's quite fun to do.

P.S.  Please, stay on topic!

Just cleaned the spam out. Stay on topic, people.-Llew2

To start us off, here's one of my characters.

Character File: Sir Aratek Xavier Voltur

Aratek is 34, son of Rakkof and Myra Voltur; horse breeders for the Dalician army.  At the age of 14, Aratek lost both parents.  He was taken care of by a Knight and his family.  After living with the family for a long time, Aratek became a knight and married their daughter, Violet.  They had one child (Uther) together, before their village got overrun by a Swadian war party.  His wife, Violet, was killed by the ruthless Swadians and Aratek was taken prisoner.  They dragged Aratek around for six years and almost killed him, were it not for the great archer, Eolyn.  Now, Aratek fights to protect the innocent.  A 'freedom fighter'.

Trivial Matters:

1) Aratek started a group that was called, 'The Angel Knights of Calradia'.  People who had lost their families, now fought to protect others.
2) Violet's father trained him as a knight.
3) He would give anything up to get back his wife, Violet.  He swore to never lose a loved one again.
4) His strength is his weapon.  He'd been using heavy armor and large weapons ever since he started training.

Skills (Scale of 1-10):

Strength: 10
Agility: 6
Hand-to-hand: 9
Ranged Weapons: 2
Swordwork: 9
Intelligence: 7
Tactical: 8
Overall Combat Effectiveness: 9

Thank you, Aratek!

Character file: General Nathaniel David Specific

Nathaniel Specific, son of Philip and Ester and brother of Gregor, Edward, and Brenda, is one of the youngest generals of Vaegir, at twenty years of age.  He is bordering on six feet in height, has brilliant blond hair and stone-grey eyes, and is as strong or stronger than almost anyone of his age.  After a khergit attack on his family's home, which orphaned him and forced him to live in the streets, he turned his attention to war.  He had been trained well by his father, but became truly great after spending some time training with an old man who showed how even great strength could be beaten by agility and good swordwork.  During his training, Nathaniel became cocky and overconfident, but was lucky when he was taught a valuable lesson by way of a fisticuffs in a tavern, which landed him up for several days in the local healers, instead of on the battlefield.  When the War began, Nathaniel formed a group which he dubbed The First People's Brigade of Calradia, whose clearly stated purpose was to reunite Calradia under one banner.  At first, the venture was neutral in its approach, but became increasingly Vaegir as time went by.  Men flocked by the hundreds to support the brigade, and it was soon quite large and effective in all that it did.  General Specific has gained wisdom beyond his years by making it a constant point to never make the same mistake twice.  His efforts helped reunite Calradia, along with those of his fellow commanders Padua, Llew, and Robin.  However, as the events took place to cause the reunion, A new enemy presented itself in the form of the dark knights.  Specific was injured badly while being interrogated by Brutus, the Knights' commander, and has several broken ribs and a broken leg.  His overall status is unknown, although it is known that he was extracted for the Knights' camp.

Trivial matters (For fun):

1) Although he is sure that his father, mother, and sister are all dead, Nathaniel has never found any trace of his brothers, Gregor and Edward.
2) Nathaniel goes by Nathaniel, Specific, and Nathan (with his closer friends).
3) Nathaniel keeps several strings of beads with him, not for luck, but to remind him of his mistakes (he adds a bead for every mistake).

Character file: Richard Elias Montrose

Son of William and Eliza and brother of Charles Montrose, Richard Montrose is a brilliant tactician and fighter, with dark brown hair, light green eyes, and a distinguishing scar running along the length of his right cheek.  He is an exceptionally tall man, and makes use of his height in battle.  He is a peculiar breed of warrior, and barely ever uses a sword unless it is absolutely necessary.  Instead, he fights with a pair of twin daggers, which he uses with surprising skill, which he owes mostly to his wonderful agility.  He fought in the First Calradian War, a set of skirmishes between Vaegirs and Swadians that foretold the war that was to follow. After this, he left Calradia with his father to fight in a war that threatened to spread to Calradia.  Then he settled with his father in Hulias, a small city on the mainland near Calradia, and has stayed there for quite a long while.  His current location is unknown, although all clues point to him still living in Hulias.

Trivial matters (For fun):

1) Richard is afraid of heights.
2) Richard doesn't use swords because he doesn't seem able to control them sufficiently.
3) Richard started training in his unique technique of fighting at age 15.
4) Richard was betrothed to the daughter of Edwin St. Vincent, but they were separated two days before their wedding by a surprise attack by the Swadians.  Miss St. Vincent was found dead a few days after.

Jerky

A skilled pickpocket from L'othore, she was expelled from her homeland after getting caught by the authorities.
After arriving at (Whatever the continent Calradia is located at is named), she was forced to learn how to survive without passerby's to pickpocket, and to trust her friends1. When expelled, they were given some tools, which she used to craft some (pathetic) bows and arrows, that they used to hunt different animals as they travelled in the search for some kind of civilisation. As time passed, she became better and better at Archery, as well as bow crafting (You can't expect a half assed bow to last for long, after all).
At one point of their journey, Jerky entered a Archery contest, in hope of winning the grand prize, three thousand denars and a beautiful thorn bow. She did well at the beginning, but came in second, losing only by three inches. But not winning did not mean she wouldn't get the the bow. when the winner of the contest went to celebrate in th tavern, she waited until he was drunk enough, and challenged her to a rematch, the stake being the bow. He felt very confident after winning, and the alcohol did not make him any less confident, so he accepted. Needless to say, Jerky won with ease, and took the bow and fled.
the thorn bow wasn't easy to master, and it took quite a while before she could accomplish anything with it, but the toil paid off as they were now able to kill the targets faster.
There was other stuff that happened before they arrived at Zendar, but I'm getting lazy (=P), and this is getting a little too detailed for a simple character file.

Trivial stuff:
1. For situations she's unable to use a bow, Jerky carries around a huge two-handed mallet called "The painmaker"
2. If attacked close, Jerky uses two stilettos, but will only try to keep the enemy away enough to break into a run in hope to get far enough to use a bow, or to get enough time to swing the painmaker.
3. The arrows she uses are made of Mithral, a strong material that is like mithril, but better
4. She can't swim
5. She is fascinated by fire, often falling into trance like state when near large fires.
6. About 160 Cm of height, 172 with ears.
7. She is addicted to a drink from her homeland, and carries around a flask that she tries to fill whenever possible. After some bartender began to produce and sell it, it became more popular in Calradia.
8.Likes to climb in high places and look at the scenery, but has trouble coming down.
9. She is a self learned healer.

Strength:                              -------    7
Agility:                                  ---------  9
Hand-to-hand:                      ---------  9  (The claws give an advantage)
Archery:                              ----------  10 (Pretty much explained)
Swordwork:                          ---        3  (She has never used swords, she doesn't like the idea of the blood of the opponent splattering on her.)
Hammerwork (=P ?)              ------      6  (Tough fairly good at using the painmaker, it is too heavy for her to use in a battle efficiently, as the weight makes it slow)
Intelligence:                        ------      6
Tactical:                              --          2

Overall Combat Effectiveness:  nine as an archer, but five if in the middle of a battle.

Other things:
Pickpocketry:  ---------- 10 (usually able to empty pockets without being noticed)
Charisma          ---        3  (She couldn't even get a naked Eskimo to buy a coat)

1 Legis and Pipsa, as seen in the role play thread.

Character File:  Lady Robin of Swadia

Robin is about 5'6".  She is fairly dark-skinned and she is very athletic.  Her tactical skill is very high and she has an eagle's eye for crossbow shooting.
A 21 year old queen, Robin is the youngest of royals in Swadia.  Her father (a skilled sharpshooter in king Harlaus' army) was fighting battles almost all the time.  He would always come home tired, wounded, and exhausted.  Even though women weren't meant to fight, Robin was fascinated by the fighting that raged on throughout her homeland.  She often followed her father, when he went off to fight.  She would take one of her mother's horses and ride after the swadian army to see where they would fight.  As Robin turned 16, she had already learned many tactics and fighting styles by watching the army.  Then, she decided to fight for the king.  The army was allowed to recruit women, but Robin's parents didn't want her to fight.  So Robin went to king Harlaus and pledged herself to his service.  Her mother begged her to stay at home, but Robin had already made up her mind.  Even though she was a woman, Robin turned out to be one of the best Swadian leaders in the land.  The king promoted her immediately and allowed her to command her own small army.  After she had gotten her army, she fought many battles against the Vaegirs and proved to be victorious.  When she turned 21, she decided to take her first Vaegir city...Wercheg.  There, Robin got stopped by the Vaegirs.  It was her first loss in many years.  After this ordeal, she turned to help the Vaegirs.  Now, after king Harlaus was dead, Robin became "Queen of Swadia".

Trivial Matters:

1) When Robin is unable to use her crossbow, she uses a balanced bastard sword.
2) At close range, Robin often switches to a faster sword like a Reeve.
3) She crafted the bolts and her crossbow by herself, making them stronger and faster.
4) Robin has an excellent sense of direction.
5) She is famous for her ambushing tactics.
6) Robin is very agile, she can outrun any man in Swadia.
7) She can heal herself, so she refuses doctors.

character file: Egbert The Second

a small weasly person who used to breed lemmings. after twenty years of inhumanely boring lemming breeding he found killing people was much more fun, and started in this new career by killing his family, friends and a stray donkey that came too close to his lemming pits. he now fights for the vaeigir army after losing a bet with a swadian officer, the bet was that if he lost he would not join the swdians. the amount of kills Egbert achieved in his first battle wasenormous. it was however a great pity that most were on his side. in disgrace he roames around  Swadian lands leaping on swadians with his motley band and his ten thousand strong killer lemming horde. he was put out when his men stopped him from using a bow after he killed three of his comrades. he had no regrets about his actions apart from the donkey.

trivial matters:

1) he smells and therefore has no sense of ambush
2)he occasionaly leaps on people from horseback crying"stabby, stabby"
3)he mourned for a week when one of his lemmings died
4)he wears a woollen cap as his bad sense of style makes him think it will attract women

Character File: Miclee

Miclee is 32, and was raised near the dark knight lands, and he needed money once, so he went to ask them if there was anything he could do, and they trained him and did the mission he was given, eventually becoming their leader. He attacked Zendar many times, until once, he became the White Knights, for he thought the Dark Knights were all wrong. Some followed him, and they made Zendar heavily defended from any invaders.

Trivial Matters:

1) He can lead just about any army, using any weapon, but his weakness is using bows.
2) His parents died a long, long time ago, when he was a baby.
3) He isn't afraid to go into a bale even if he knows he will lose.

Character file: Padua Georgia Verona

The 25-year-old daughter of Count Vincenzo of Verona and Natalia Verona, and sister of Abele Verona, Padua Verona is a natural born leader, with exceptional fighting skills and a great affinity for tactics. She is fairly tall for a woman, at five feet and eleven inches, has long dark brown hair, almost black, which is wavy when allowed to hang loose but is usually kept tied back in a ragged ponytail. Deeply tanned from her upbringing in the courts of Italy, she is a rare beauty in almost any country, with large, wide, deep brown eyes, a refined, graceful sculptured face and neck. In battle, she is reknowned for her expert knife throwing, and she usually wears a bandolier of thirty round her armour, from her left shoulder to her right hip. Her slim body belies hidden strength, and she is very agile, twisting away from swords and axes alike. In close quarters where throwing knives are not appropriate, she uses a one-handed sword and a light but strong shield on her left arm with great skill. She tends to aim for the throat as a quick, efficient and quiet way of dispatching foes. Kidnapped as a young girl, she was rescued by a Spaniard, who she met by chance years later in Calradia and now fights alongside. After then, she took him as a role model and learned the arts of war, hoping to emulate his skill at arms.. At 21 she left Italy with a force of Italian mercenaries to look for a cause that required morality and fighting skills, and chanced upon the realm of Calradia, where she joined a faltering Vaegir war effort. It was during a battle with the Swadians that she met the Spaniard who rescued her, Alfonso Carreira Fernández. His son had stowed away aboard one of Padua's ships unknown, and was reunited with his father in the aftermath of the battle. Padua has grown very attached to the young man, who was raised in France away from his father due to a war between Spain and France, and is called Jean-Pierre Hachée.

Trivial Matters:

1) She and her soldiers seem unbothered by modesty and men and women bathe together in the rivers of Calradia.
2) She began learning the arts of war after being rescued from kidnappers by Alfonso Carreira Fernández.
3) She is also an experienced sailor, having spent many months journeying from Italy to Calradia, and she also commanded the detachments of soldiers aboard the warships of Verona.

Sorry for my terrible story, I'm no storyteller.

Character file: Lord William

William is about 25, he left his home because he had been accused of a murder he didn't do. He left to Calradia with his best friend, and they arrived to Zendar, where they fought river pirates and participated in the arena fights. But one day, when they were coming back from succesful pirate hunting, they encountered a party of dark knights. They fought hard, but finally the dark knights got the upper hand. The last thing William saw before falling unconcious was his friend being slashed down by a big axe. When he woke up, he saw his friend lying on the ground, dead. He was furious. William joined Vaegirs for further training in arts of war, and he swore he wouldn't rest until all of the dark knights would have been killed. He bought a heavy double axe, since his friend was also been killed by an an axe. Whenever he sees dark knights, he becomes a merciless fighter, leaving no dark knights alive. William also fights Swadians, but with no such rage. Some call him William the blood axe, because his axe is usually covered in blood after a battle. No dark knight can stand before his wrath.

Trivial:

1) He is an expert user of two handed weapons and lances.
2)His army is small but well trained, consisting only of knights.

Amman de Stazia 说:

Hey, sounds kinda like one of my characters.

Cedric the Bull - leader of the barbaric northern tribes; vicious, barbaric, strong, bad temper, no mercy; travels on foot; has an army of barbarians; clothes consist of thick animal furs over top of a short maille dress; weapons are usually throwing axes and javelins, axes, swords, picks, and heavy clubs; helmets are optional in his army

Name: Cale Rodhar (Literally, though probably wrong grammatically Red-Hair)

Age: 25

Race:Mixed SeaRaider and Calradian

Bio: Cale is the only son of Vali the Settler, the SeaRaider noble who cam across the sea with a large band of his followers and their families and founded a string of small tightly knit communities along the coasline east of Zendar. His mother was a Calradian peasant originally captured by his father after a battle with Swadian troops but eventually freed when he fell in love with her. Cale was educated in a monastery near to the Norse villages but never really cared for their books and the constant preaching against his 'heathen upbringing'. For although of mixed blood Cale is a son of the North to his very core. From the time he could lift a spear he'd been doing just that, training to fight and to sail the ships that his people are famed for.

When his father was murdered by Harald the Shieldless Cale was all but consumed by anger while his mother fell into grief. She died that same winter of a fever and Cale was sent to the monastery to be raised. There he quarrelled often with the other boys being taught, mostly the spoiled sons of Calradian nobles who both hated and, after more then one broken nose, feared the wild 'barbarian' among them. His distinctive mane of fiery red hair led the monks to start calling him Rodhar and with his father dead he took it as his last name.

Despite the disapproving lectures of the monks Cale snuck off whenever he could to be among his own people, his childhood friends and their fathers so that he could continue training and work towards the vengeance that he so fiercly craved. Eventually, this thirst for revenge cooled from the flaming rage of his youth into a more calm icy focus which allowed his natural ability to lead to emerge in his late teens.

When he was eventually released from the monastery Cale immediately returned to his fathers home, kept tidy and untouched by the neighbours and followers who had dearly loved Vali. When news circulated to the villages and distant farms that Cale had returned the men of the Nordlaw, as the region was known, quickly began to gather. Together with Cale they all swore a blood oath, the most sombre of the Northern traditions that they wouldn't rest untill Cales father was avenged and the blood debt settled.

For the next seven years Cale and the Oath-Bound became known and feared by SeaRaiders up and down the coast as battle after battle was fought and the sea stained with blood. Although he has also occasionally quarrelled with Swadian and Vaegir nobles trying to bring the Nordlaw into their control Cale now fights with them after the Geroians attacked his home, admittedly at great cost. He has been promised the independence of his land and the realisation of his fathers dream. A permanent, safe home for his people.

Physically Cale is posessed of the tall, broad shouldered frame archetypal of the sea raiders. He has red hair and a short cut beard. His clothing is restrained to simple, hardy and warm clothes with little decoration other then bits of embroidery here and there. When on campaign he wears a mail hauberk over a leather tunic with a pair of writhing dragons etched onto the bottom of it. His weapon of choice is his fathers two handed axe and he can use it masterfully. Anyone who sees the flame haired warrior alone infront of the shieldwall swinging the axe would be a fool to think him an easy target and often his feet are lined with the corpses, and dismembered bits, of such fools.

Random Facts:

1) When not using his axe Cale uses a balanced Nordic sword with a elaborate gold pommel and rune etched hilt together with his trademark shield with the glittering tokens taken from SeaRaider heroes he's slain.
2) His banner is black with his fathers bloodied form holding up the decapitated head of Harald the Shieldless emblazoned in red upon it.
3) Cale will never break his word. Ever.
4) He has a soft spot for pickled herring.

Stats: Not sure how to do this excactly with numbers so I'll just say his strengths instead.

Cale is a born leader who can inspire his Oath-Bound to acts of extraordinary courage. Though his normal distrust of outsiders, at least in their fighting ability limits this to his own people.

Although not one to begin flipping and handstanding around the room Cale is agile enough to not make him an easy target.

Cale is very strong, although his men will often exagerate as is the Norse habit he has been seen more then once to decapitate a charging horse with a swing of his fathers axe.

Name: Sir Jonathan (AgentSword) I, King of the Vaegirs, and Sir Michael Fitzgerald, Second in Command of the Vaegir Army

Ages: 25

Jonathan, as a young boy, was taught by his father to be a good man: trusty with a sword, yet deadly with his words (especially with the ladies). Jonathan was born into the family of Henry and Isabella. Henry would always take time away from his royal duties to teach his son the basics of living. Survival skills, heavy weapons training, and the like. Jonathan idolized his father, and was proud to be the son of a nobleman. Henry would always tell his son to admire them, for "They have to live through the things we don't even have nightmares about." So with this in mind, Jonathan became the wonder boy thoughout all of the social classes of Reyvadin, and would always visit his best fried Michael, who lived just outside the city walls on a farm. One day a man tried to kidnap him from the farm, but the father of Michael killed him with his hoe. Then, when Jonathan was 16, there was a fire at Michael's home, which burnt it to the ground, and Jonathan rebuilt it for them, bigger and better then ever.

When Jonathan became a man at the age of 18, Jonathan was made into a knight, and demanded that Michael was made into one as well, for they had made a blood oath because they were such deep friends, and Jonathan had taught michael everything anyways, so it was only fair. Jonathan's father, although surprised, was very pleased with his son's loyalty to his friends, and allowed the knighthood.

When they were both 19, they set out on a trip throughout the lands as travelling bravos, as they wanted to know what it was like to live on the edge. They then returned at the age of 20 with much experience in pathfinding and hunting, plus had learned how to talk their way out of trouble, not to mention kill enemies on the fly. With this as their background, the dynamic duo was assigned to be in charge of a patrol, with which they were highly revered. WIth tihs small company, their most glorious achievement was their heroic stand against a Dark Knight company, which was 10 times their size. The two companions were then put in charge of a war party at the age of 25, which is where we lost them to a monstrous amount of Dark Knights for a long time. Michael was kept with the other prisoners, but Jonathan was tortured and beaten for many days, until they were saved by another Vaegir way party. Jonathan escaped, but Michael returned to command his own Vaegir war party, which was formed exclusively to search for Jonathan. This is where Jonathan began his journey in the Role Play, where he gathered another small force and participated in the Battle of Reyvadin, and then was recaptured, and then freed, and then reunited with Michael. They are now closer friends then ever.

Husan Al-Din

Age: Unknown

Race: Desert Nomad

Description: Husan is only of average height and not particularly physically endowed. He is thin though not waif-like. Perhaps best described as 'wiry'. His dark skin belies his origin somewhere in the far desert lands, in truth he was born into the deep desert where noone claims lordship because there is little to claim lordship of. Here living is hard but killing remarkably easy. Husan grew accustomed to it at a young age. Now he has left the sun scorched lands behind him and come into Calradia to make a living for himself. He often dresses in dark colours. Greys, blues and blacks and is not the type to be seen often in public if at all. He often has his face covered by a keffiyeh, the tribal scarf of his people and carries a curved knife with him always. At other times he uses a scimitar and a brace of throwing knives.

Bugman
Age: 50
Race: Geroian

Born into a low position in the Geroian grand army to a chamber maid, Bugman enjoyed three decades of rape, slaughter and looting whereever possible. He received a blunt force trauma on his head that made him realise what he was doing was wrong. He disappeared for another decade in the guise of a monk and reappeared only to lock himself into the great chapel of the east. Then at the age of fifty he took the ancient relic, Cuddles the great axe, to Caladria seeking redemption by helping the innocent and slaying Geroians.

Trivia
- has never married or had kids
- looks old and is old but moves as if he is twenty
- Cuddles has been renamed by the Geroians as the blades of no return due to Bugman's skill with them
- If possible leaves any non- Geroian enemy alive and gives them a chance to leave before the fighting has actually begun
- Disguised as an old pilgrim with a long white beard
- Ignores horses, even on long journeys. Best friend was thrown and killed so Bugman does no trust them.

Name: Turz
Age: 32
Race: Khergit/Vaegir

Turzl's troubles began from the beginning when his mother, a Khergit, met his father, a Vaegir diplomat on a mission from the king. She instantly fell in love with him, but she was destined to be wed to a Khergit lord. The Khergit lord, being notoriously dark-skinned, immediately suspected his wife of adultery when their child came out incredibly pale. Another discerning feature that gave away the race of the child's father was his brilliant red hair. The only people in Kherge who had this hair coloring were the Vaegirs from the north! The Khergit lord was so enraged at the sight of this that he drew his saber and was close to killing his young wife when she fled to the shelter of her sister's home. She trusted her child into her care and returned to the home of her homicidal spouse.

Turz grew up in the care of his aunt for the rest of his childhood until his father, the Vaegir diplomat, came to his village looking for his son. Neither of the two men had seen each other in their lives, so when Turz's father noticed the pale Khergit with bright red hair the same hue as his own, he knew this was his son. Turz, longing to be a Khergit war chief, knew that if he acknowledged this foreigner as his father he would be even more of an outcast from his society. When the man continued to state facts about his mother and his family history in front of his whole village, Turz knew it was no longer safe for him here.

So one night, when the guards of the town were changing shifts, he took his prized horse, Bukel, and fled to the steppes. He lived the life of a nomad, living among a raiding tribe. He worked his way from horse-shoer all the way up to 2nd in command to the chief. The dying chief, who has been dealt a mortal blow by a Swadian guard at a trading post, considered Turz a son. So on his deathbed, he declared Turz chief of the whole tribe and gave him Multkin, the sword that had been passed down from chief to chief for over 300 years.

Archist was a young lad happy in his home on the prairies near Reyvadin until a Swadian Warparty killed his mother, sister, and two brothers. They also took his father prisoner. He survived because he was only knocked unconcious, but bled enough to make the Swadians believe he was dead. Some Black Knights found him and one took him as a squire. He has always had a thing for Black Hunters.

Trivial facts
He lost his right thumb when some Swadian Scouts captured him. He had been a reknowned archer, so they amputated his thumb so that he could no longer draw an arrow.
