So about a year ago, I got BF2 and was playing online at the Gulf of Oman 32 vs. 32.
I was in charge of Alpha squad and there were 2 other full squads besides mine. So we had been pushed out of the mainland and the commander assembled us in the lower decks to get ready for a mass assault. About 20 of us arrived while the others ran around like idiots on the top deck and got slaughtered. We decided to overwhelm the Eastern Beachhead. My squad and any extras got into a Black Hawk, the commander and someone else got into a jet, Bravo leader and one of his men got into a Cobra, and the rest got into the boats. The battle was amazing.
The Commander began by bombing the crap out of the mainland, then we went in. My Black Hawk hovered over the base (defended by about 7 people) and anyone who was not in a turret jumped out while the gunners mowed down the defenders from the Black Hawk. Once we had captured the base, We knew that a MASSIVE counterattack was coming because of the recon units sent out by the commander, besides the one or two stragglers. The engineers were tasked with mining all entrances while the snipers were to get into a concealed position and spot. Our total army consisted of 1 cobra with a gunner, 2 jets, 1 tank, 1 APC, and about 15 ground troops. Finally the enemy struck.
On the mini map, red blips started popping up. The snipers were spotting TONS of troops coming from the city and the other beach bases. Almost simultaneously everyone opened fire. Finally the enemy breached our perimeter after about 5 minutes of hard-pressed defense. Snipers were picking off our men one by one while jets went on bombing runs and cobras strafed. The chaos was insane. Eventually we lost the battle and only about 5 of us including me remained. We ran behind the bunker and prepared for our last stand. As the artillery shells came down, we charged. We killed about 10 men before we were wiped out. As I lay bleeding out, I saw our commander in his jet kamikaze into the base. That was an AMAZING battle and because of our commander's leadership and our cooperation, we won in the end. What happened to people like that?
