This adds a new mission type. Defend. You can defend a city with the guards and try to repel enemies. if you fail they capture the city. Also you could add in assaults and add a better home guard system. like the closer you get to the capital city the harder it gets to reach it. I see it if your a veagir soldier and going to the swadian capital you shouldnt be able to waltz right in. i could see a better use of armies this way and a little bit more despiration feel. kinda like your down to your last city and you lead your band of men to an attack on supplies and then hit the enemy from behind.

Interesting...

I simpler version of this, that could be implemented with the current game is to be assigned to "defend" a city for a given period of time, say 1 day. During this time, opposition forces that "spot" the town, would attempt to reach it. Your job would be to prevent that from happening.

Another way to do it is a variaiton on the "raiding party quest" You are given a town to defend and a raiding party is spawned nearby and will head to the town. If you are able to stop them before they reach the town, quest successful, otherwise, you fail. The spawn point would have to be relatively close to the town, otherwise, the raiding party would get side-tracked, just as the current raiding party quest.... it would really suck waiting at the town for them to show up, you dare not leave otherwise, they could sneak in on you since you have no idea what direction they would be coming from... So long is that situation is avoided, it would be a great quest.

It would be better if the defence mission was behind the town walls!
On the top of the wall and towers there would be archers and crossbowmen and behind the gates and inside the city there would be infantry and the cavalry

so ur asking for sieges ? .. just download the 100yrs war mod, apparently thats got loads of city....stuff in it

Perhaps, if seiges are implemented and such , you could own a city if you took it over by force. this would be good in many ways, 1 it would give higher level players someting harder to do in capturing the city on your own, 2 once you have captured the city you would have to supply it with soilders, which means you would have to train them up which would be something eles to do and thirdly if you owned a city it would be somethingy that war parties would attack that could run away so it would force you into a harde battle. the managment could be made simple, just supplying troops and completing quests and getting tax as income plus getting cheaper goods, but it could still be interesting and could be made or modded to have more managment aspects if people wanted it.
and just think of the titles you would get
Lord Sneakey of Suno!!!
