Quick update to the sounds.

Changes in 1.81:
-Increased weapon impact volume by a small amount
-Tweaked level up and a few other sounds
-removed 1.21 Prophesy of Pendor compatibility file (2.0 has been released with the sounds already implemented)

Hopefully the volume level for weapon impacts is better now. Level up sound was too loud and unpleasant to the ears so I tweaked it a bit.
Version 2.0 of Prophesy of Pendor has now been released with the sounds already implemented so it made no sense to include the compatibility file.

Are your sounds still real and not exaggerated somehow?
I've never caved in the chest of a person wearing full plate armor with a sword/hammer before so I'm not really sure. I try to get them as close to what I think they should sound like with the limited tools I have while also sounding good in-game and with good variety.
The overall feeling of the sounds haven't changed much since the first version if thats what you wanted to know.

Good luck.

appriciate the quick update, checkmaty... caught me by surprise

new weapons impacts volume is better than last release and the level up is much better.

again, thanks for all your labor and sharing the current results with us.

regards,

I don't know but for me it is too much already. Too much sharp sounds for my ears.  My favorite version is still 1.7

I honestly can't tell the difference between all the versions.

Still, all of them sound good to me, so thanks for the update.

I have them all carefully saved. Maybe sounds are louder here then in prevous version? I don't know but never mind.

Only big changes to volume are the weapon impacts. I lowered the volume of the sound files due to the sound waves going over the volume limit causing the sound to crack and distort a little. To make up for this I had to up the volume in the module system from 9 to 10(max), which may of caused the impact sounds to sound sharper. Wish I could spend more time to test them out.
If the new impact sounds really are a step down from 1.7 then I will probably revert back to the old ones in the next update.

New update bringing the sounds to version 1.9

Changes:
-Replaced some weapon impacts with older sounds + a few new ones
-Various other changes and volume tweaks

Did some mixing and matching with weapon impacts from older versions. Level up sound should now be more audible during battle with the new volume tweaks. Feedback on the changes is welcome.

V1.7 of the sound pack is already implemented in Prophesy of Pendor. If you install V1.9 into PoP then some strange audio problems will occur. Just copying the new sounds over and not overwriting the sounds.txt will allow you to run the mod with many of the newer sounds but some will not be played. Maybe saxondragon will include the new version of the sounds in the his next update (not up to me).

Any mod that has made changes to the sounds or has new sound entires is incompatible. Best way to find out is to just test it out though.

I see....Thanks for the detailed explanation dude...MORE POWER TO MORE METAL SOUNDS...!!!

oops!

Just noticed that I accidentally lowered the volume of the horse gallop sounds(a 1 digit change in the module file  ). A fixed zip has been uploaded.

This one just keeps getting better. Now it just needs some good female sounds implemented into it as well, but so far I'm loving it.

Keep up the good work.

Sadly I already tried to implement some new female voices a while ago but couldn't manage to record female grunts/deaths that were better than the ones included with the game (they actually sounded bad/comedic). I also didn't want to steal sounds from other games/sources so I just gave up on the new female voices as the ones already in game are of an acceptable quality.

Does this conflict with the "Cries of war and official vocals soundpack" and if it does is it both of them or just one of them that conflicts? Cheers

Maybe add some shouting when you give orders to your troops?
This would require changes to other areas of the module system and make the sounds incompatible with many mods so it is a no go.

@Nameless Warrior
Both Cries of War and the Official vocals pack is incompatible.
