So again how messy this time is your room
You just cannot stop helping to do more work, are you

Excellent work!

Downloading right away

Didn't record much for this version and instead reused many old sounds so my room didn't get so messy this time

The hoofsteps are better. They sound more clear/distinct and varied. It's certainly not coconutshells being smashed together
And the "quieter weapon draw sounds" was certainly needed. Especially when 40 men unsheathe their weapons at once.

Excellent work.

Thanks for the feedback Adorno. The cringe-inducing sound produced when many men drew there weapons at once was the main reason why I decided to make the weapon draw sounds quieter.
Speaking of cringe-inducing, I was also wondering about the volume level of the weapon impacts. I am thinking that they are too loud at the moment but am not too sure. Opinions from others on the volume level of the weapon impacts would help a lot in deciding if I should lower them for the next version or not.

Well I wouldn't want the impact sounds to be tuned down. I like the feeling of my weapon having an impact. I refer to the unsatisfying feeling of firing the citykiller shotgun in fallout 3 which is way too silent, you have the feeling of firing a fake weapon, combined with the low damage it deals. So please don't tune down impact sounds.

What sound.txt do I use from 3 different ones?

So I deleted all new sounds from 1.4 added all from 1.7. erased the py. files and used the first sound text file with 766 at the top. is that alright?

I think I got it right. Everything seems to sound right.

Or should I use the sound.txt with 734 as before?  :???:

You can copy the sound files into the root M&B sounds folder (recommend backing it up first) instead of putting them into every module folder. the sounds.txt must still be replaced for any module you want to run with the new sounds.

Nope, the sounds.txt of a module must be replaced to get the new sounds to work. Don't know of a universal way to install the sounds into the main directory.

Thanks for the update for this Checkmaty.  I've used more_metal whenever I can since I started playing M&B in january.  I'm indeed grateful, as well, for the inclusion of the sounds.py files.  Make inclusion in my personal playground much more enjoyable, not to mention much easier.
i use as much of the vocals pack as I can and they compliment each other fairly well, the only caveat being the horses sound during charge - I'm one of those who prefer the "beefier" sounds during battle, altho I can't tell you why that is so.
am looking forward to your next update, no matter how long you decide to take getting it out.  taking one's time helps to avoid burnout, and sound work is about the most intensive work there is...

regards,
ta

Been pretty busy lately working on financial problems so I haven't been able to get much done on the sounds. I try to sneak in some time here and there but it's not enough for a new release. I really want to get a new update out but at this rate it will be a long while before that happens. I still check my e-mail for topic replies and private messages so I will still visit the forums frequently to reply to them.

hELLO!

Im having difficulties installing this mod into copy of native mod...

When I play MaB, all of sounds are gone, except some death voices ( no sword sound, horse charge, nothing!!!)

Can anyone plz tell me, what did I do wrong?

edit : No need to help.Already fixed.

This is the first thing I ever added to any mod (succesfully )

New update to the sounds.

Changes in V1.8:
-Changes to weapon impacts
-Improved blunt impacts on the wooden shield
-New water jump and splash sounds for horses
-New level up sound
-Other various changes and improvements

Wanted to get more done for this update but due to the extremely slow progress I'm going to release whats been done so far.
First post updated !

Improvements you say. I can't imagine this being much better,
so I guess I'll have to try it out and be proved wrong
The new level up sound is certainly needed. I always replace it in the mods I play.
Perhaps a new 'click' sound would be as nice addition too...

No dramatic improvements. Just wanted to release what I've done up to now due to lack of time and slow progress (would of taken too long to reach my set goal for this update).
I'm still wondering about the volume for weapon impacts. They are a little lower for this release but I'm not sure if they are too quiet now. People like to play at different volume levels and its very hard to get the volume just right. The click sound is already changed from native, maybe I need to make a better one?

just did a run through a couple of fights, checkmaty, and i'd say the weapon impacts are indeed just slightly too low this time.  i can tell that the line between too loud and too quiet is a very fine one, so i appreciate your efforts all the more.
the click sound is fine as is, imho.  much less impact on the eardrums and serves its purpose as well as can be.

overall, the balance of sounds seems to be better than last release, so i'd say don't sweat it, just do what RL demands and be concerned about the next release only when you feel it's reasonable to get to it.

thanks for sharing your hard work with the community.
regards,
ta
