More Arena Suggestions

The arena is a place i always spend hours playing, but i have a few suggestions to make it better

1. More people in the battles. this has been brought up before im sure, but im bringin up again.

2. Instead of just fighting random battles over and over again, why not have a system where if you win, lets say, 10 battles, you get to participate in a big battle, with large prize money and even reputation. Maybe even have temporary buildings, like a few crapping buildings to imitate a town raid

3. Add spectators, its wierd to be fighting and have no one in the box watching you kick ass.

Oh, another battle idea, mybae have a kind of king of the hill type battle, where there is a big mound in the center of the arena, and the team who holds the top longest wins

These ideas could be implemented, even if they have a chance of bieng added to the game, it will take some time.

This game begs for any kind of tournament, including everything that's been mentioned here...the more different events a tournament could offer, the better...
 
oh god, not time! It would'nt be so bad if it showed a clock in the upper right hand corner of the screen, that way i know what time it is, cuz all i know is its late afternoon etc..
 
If we're adding tournament events, then archery would be a great competition. Not "I shoot you or you shoot me first", but more traditional archery tournament material, including:

  • Clout - target is a distant flag and arrows are "lobbed" high to land near the flag. Each archer gets six arrows, closest arrow(s) wins.
  • Target - target is the traditional circular hay bale with rings marked on it. Each archer gets six arrows, highest score wins.

Perhaps four archers enter each tournament, player included, and the player competes against the AI archers.

I like the idea, provided the targets are moving. Perhaps towed across the field on a little cart?
 
I love the tournaments, but the XP rewards are so poor I rarely play it.

My first character tournied for a whole evening and scraped up enough XP for level 3. I then took a couple of merchant quests and was amazed to be lvl 4 already.
 
re: Ronin Storm's suggestion, I'd also like to see archery practice and archery tournaments in the arena.
 
The Arena is great not for the experience of the character, but the experience of the player. There I could spend ten minutes learning the basics of cavalry combat and how elusive a good couched lance charge is.

Yeah, the only place I can get archery practice is when someone is trying to kill me, and some of the archers you encounter out in the wilds are crack shots and have a habit of nailing me right between the eyes.

I love the tournaments, but the XP rewards are so poor I rarely play it.

I agree with JRE that the tournaments are much more about teaching the player how to fight in and against a group, rather than XP grind. That said, I don't find that I even attempt to XP grind in this game - more interesting to find different and amusing ways of fighting.
 
Ive actually been thinking about the Areno also. I started this game a few days ago and was amazed by battle.

Some of your suggestions seems very tempting but I think the game need more enjoyable quests beforing adding not really important stuff like spectators. (I agree it would add a more real feeling about the areno).

Over to my thoughts about the Arena. Ive lvled to 25 theese nights when i have nearly gotten any sleep at all. My concern is not XP gained since it works fine as it is atm.

What i would like to see is like already suggested 1on1
but also bigger fights.

All vs All is also something tempting.

Different modes should only be offered to higher levels.

Wagure problem. At my current level i wont loose a fight unless someone gets a arrow between my eyes or my horse get slain when having a lance. Wich makes it a very profible place to just snag easy money.

What i would like here is a Wagure system degrading depending on level.
Lets for example say level 25 then you can only wagure 100 dinars and level 35 50 dinars.

Higher wagures should be implemented in new harder arena fights like All vs All but also have level cap.
 
we need jousting, and more than one tournament city. I also like the befre mentioned idea of having carts pulling targets for archery. They have to be moving targets.
 
This is a content issue which is probably why hes developing the mod tools right now. Then content issues can be addressed by the fans any way they like.

But yeah, im all for an expanded tournament/arena.
