I've only got one question: "Where is Harvey D..."I mean...is it in anyway possible to manually remove morale from the game?

When I played Native when this game first came out, generally once you started getting about 200+ men, morale starts taking a dive, and everyone leaves your party, and I stopped played because my character's army really couldn't expand enough to take cities.  When I then downloaded a great mod, 1257, men start deserting after around 100-120+, and I eventually stopped playing because it made the game nearly unplayable as a King.  And low and behold, I have around 190 men, who I just raised to "very high" morale, and after siegeing someplace for like three days, they all start peacing.  I lost like 25 guys in one go.  I really don't want to let another great mod go to waste because of one dumb feature.

The morale feature in Warband has been continually ruining it for me.  It adds about 10% of realism for about 70% frustration, and half the time the way it works doesn't even make any sense...case and point, I smashed an army bigger then me  just today, and as soon as I burn and loot the corpses, ten guys leave because morale is low.

1. Disable morale penalty for not resting

2. Don't fill you army all the way up to max, leave some room.

3. Buy a huge variety of food

4. Once close to 200, hire a Merc Capt and give him your most expensive troops

5. Keep adding Merc capts as you go

boy loads of beer and mead, large variety of food.
Beer and mead have zero effect on morale. Put one in your inventory and compare your morale to before you bought it. No change. They are also not consumed like other food by the troops.

it could just be a fluke, but then i have no idea what caused morale to change abruptly.

i had morale bellow average, in May, even after resting in town. i had about half the men i could keep and had not lost any battles or done anything that should decrease morale. still i had morale problem.
this was about the only time i have not had alcohol in inventory and also the only time i have had serious morale problems.
so i bought 4 units of beer/mead and after one nights rest i had morale increase by 25...

i notice that drinks is not spent, but figured that was a bug in my favour.

I go raiding with 120 troops and without resting for days without morale drop, just use a lot of different food, like grapes, grain, breed, cheese, fish, beer, etc.

Also, the party capacity of your army is not what you can handle always by your leadership skill, in facto, the renown gives a lot of the capacity, so you could have an army of 200 men with 3 leadership and 400 of renown, but you will suffer by wages and morale horribly

Invest some effort and money in a good minstrel (i.e. Inka or Siwi). That small, daily increase to moral is invaluable, and make a huge diference at the long term.

He's called Hornman in the game, but really he looks just horny

Indeed! I train that skill myself too, it really make the morale system A LOT less frustrating!
