Sergeant at Arms

Okay I know this won't be implemented, at least not for 1.0. Just tossing an idea around really.
I think morale should have a much bigger impact on the battlefield, namely that low morale should cause troops to panic and flee. In medieval warfare, fighting down to the last man is almost unheard of, and when it happens, it usually become legendary tales. Having a group of common bandits making a stand to the end is just preposterous; they should be fleeing long before the last handful went down. The discipline is almost, if not more important than the equipment that distinguishes professional soldiers from peasant conscripts.
In gameplay terms, though, I can easily imagine how annoying it would be to have your enemy flee on you all the time once you get too strong. But then that would be just another perk for having small armies.
Another potential problem is that the battlefields are too small to allow proper chase, which should normally be pretty devastating on its own, especially when done by light cavalry vs. fleeing footmen.
I think overall the Total War series has the best modelling of army morale and cohesion, and oh it would be so juicy sweet if M&B could do the same... one can only dream I suppose.
