Yes, it was a tough transition to 1.127..

I was told it was going to happen, but WOW, is that expensive!

I've given away most of my property.  I tried to keep one city, but it's 20K.  I'm going to have to widdle that one down too.

If I buy businesses in every city, is there a chance they will be taken over and shut down if I go to war with someone?

Seriously, how stuffed do you keep your castles? 500+ top tier units?
You're driving yourself bankrupt!

Those numbers should not be (much) over a few k per fief.

Just fight a lot so the numbers dwindle, and give away fiefs, should help a lot.
No income from towns??

That must be a legion of high tier soldiers you must have garrisoned in each fief. My usual 200-300 garrison of high/low tier mix usually doesn't go beyond 3000d in upkeep.

When you're at war your business in the hostile cities are under sequestration, meaning that they don't buy nor produce anything. Once the war is over your business will be go back to normal. But those business are always your property. You can't lose them.

Thanks for the info!

Prior to 1.127 you could have a city and not take possession of it.  Yeah, I have crazy numbers of swad knights and rhodok sharpshooters in most cities.

Yeah, that was a liiiittle bit of an exploit that the devs have plugged now.

Looks like you relied fairly heavily on it.

I figured it was a fair trade off considering AI lords can raise an army out of thin air.

You can't collect any rent from the cities you don't pay either, so it was just a place to toss troops.  I'm working on a new character who is level 23 now.  She doesn't have any land and she is unaffiliated for now.  I think I'll open a whole bunch of businesses and keep my belongings to one city.  Honestly that should be enough troops.  It will just be a longer trip to re-fill.

How far into the game are you? Are you a king?  Do you have money problems?

I haven't been a king in the latest patch, but with the amount that businesses can bring in, I think balancing the budget will be a lot easier than it used to be. I really don't anticipate too many problems with wages blowing out now.

I think I'm going to see how easily I can get rich...

I'll take my girl who owns no feifs and has no allegiences and buy a business in every city in Calrandia.  (I have 250K dinars, so I should have the money to do that already)  I imagine I can clear about 500 dinars on average for every city.  There are 22 cities (I think I counted right)...  so 11K dinars/week.    My guys cost about 2,500...  That means I'll clear 8,500 dinars/week.

Oh, it's insane alright. I never would have been able to afford lordly armor otherwise.

I used Ironworks though, cheaper to start up, and if you stock them they make more than 500 a week.

You'll want to switch to silk when you transition to a Lord though, you won't have the time to schlepp goods around.

I have an ironworks, but I don't like to stock it as I make great money from trading.  (I buy in Curaw/Ahmerrad)
I'd rather have silk works so I don't have to check on anything.
