Modulated: Mech Arena Combat, IndieGoGo campaign up!

Users who are viewing this thread

The game has been published as an indiegogo campaign, if you could share it, it would help me greatly!

Modulated has been published on Desura!

The alpha has been released!

Please keep in mind that the game is very much a skeleton and only contains the absolute bare essentials at the moment.
Consider it more of a test of the gameplay feel, presentation and controls rather than the content of the game as a whole.

You can now download it at http://www.indiedb.com/games/modulated

As some of you may already know, I am working on a arena based mech game, where you can change up to 17 different kinds of parts (and probably more types in the future) and bring your machination to life in combat.

I've been working on it on and off for two years on and off now and it is starting to take shape, most of the groundwork is done and focus is now on content, polish, features and visual fidelity.

Robots don't sweat!

They do if you work them hard enough!

After attaching fire hoses to their imaginary armpits, obviously.

If this is a modular building robots then fighting them game I swear to God, all of the boners.

What you see in the video is just one of the two base skeletons, you'll be able to attach weapons (left and right individually), underarm parts (individual) overarms (individual), shoulders (individual), head (single), torso (single), legs (single) and feet (single).

Awesome work, what engine is this on?

Unreal Engine, Commercial UDK license.

I'm liking the retro style of the robots. Hope this works out well.

Looks freaking sweet so far. How is the game going to play out? Are you going to be placed in control of a small brigade of soldiers and armor with your mech being the main punch?

I really like the spec shader on the robots, good work.

Where did you get 'em from if you don't mind me asking? Or did ye make 'em yourself?

I made it myself with a ****ton of tweaking, UDK has a visual shader editor though, so it's not as if I scripted it myself.

I could show you the HLSL if you want, but there's gonna be tons of UE3 specifics.

So does this mean you've abandoned SR?

For now at least, I may reboot it completely one day.

Heh, don't bother. I have no knowledge of HLSL and I don't want to learn.

So what language does the UDK use? Please excuse my ignorance, I've never had anything to do with the UDK.

UnrealEngine itself uses C++, but except for implementing 3rd party features (source code is not available to UDK anyway), you'll be using UnrealScipt, it's own language. It's very similar to other OOP languagues.

Ahh, OK. Thanks.

I might learn C++ at some point. I know VB, JScript and C#, learning another wont hurt.

Keep up the good work, I expect great things.

I guess it looks good but I wont keep my hopes up, I was waiting for settling revenge and you dumped it so whats stopping you from dumping this?
