Mod's in Final Version?

Knight at Arms
Was wondering if the main designers were going to encorporate some of the mods into the final version. I can't think of a game (off the top of my head) that has actually used and credited user-made extras (maybe doom?). Think this is possible?

(just started a few weeks ago, so I thought I should pay my dues here)

yes, but WHY. i mean the main game is totally different from many mods, and its easy to download mods, and yet still have the native version.

Most people play the game with a mod (at least from what I've read so far). Adding diffrent mods as 'game modes' could be a big benefit for marketing the game. The mod's are easily downloadable but if the mod's are already in, it makes searching and downloading individual mods unneeded. Plus, its a good way for the main game designers and the beta testers (I guess that's what we are?) to cooperate to enhance both the game and the mods, which I think is something that most small-scale game-creators overlook as an opportunity.

Just my two-cents, though.

I see your point, but if they do it, then they have to pay the creaters of the mod a part of the profit from each game sold, because they are selling other people's work, so I don't think it's likely, especially when there is a nice list of mods at the top of the mod discussion board.

for some mods,i think,it could be available.storymod maybe.not the whole mod but some parts from it.

if modmakers allow,of course.some can say "i will allow for only my part".

Well, there's no point with bothering with all the legal (forgive me), **** that goes with even putting free offered mod content into a game. much better just to leave it as it is for free download.

Actually there have been a number of releases of otherwise free mod collections on CD that charged, and the mod makers never saw a penny. You need to check the small print, especially if the mod tools are provided by the game authors - it's not unusual for them to claim anything created with their tools too. Considering the furore over Hot Coffee, its possible you'll be seeing that kind of thing a lot more in the future.

A mod is a "modification" of a game.. Therefore, whatever the final release would be - is the official game. Whatever was edited and modified by a 3rd party, would be a mod ::smile:

Simple as that I would suppose ::grin:
