"The Mods-in-development thread, if it's got a concept, it should be here."

Well, I have some concepts, but as of yet, no modding skill or experience whatsoever and probably won't be able to do anything concrete until May.  I'll post my concepts, but make no promises as to delivery.

Mustangs + Muzzleloaders

Set in the American West of the 1840s.  Not the later gunfighter period of the other Western mod, but the end of the Mountain Man era. Will take creative license with actual history. Will cover the Northern & Central Plains area.  Joinable factions to include The Hudson's Bay Company, their allies the Blackfoot Nation, their rivals The American Fur Company and AFC's allies The Crow Tribe.  Other NPC factions to include assorted Native tribes, possibly including Sioux, Cheyenne, Arikara etc, maybe pioneer wagon trains to be guided West for missions.

Firearms will be muzzleloaders.  No revolvers, no breechloaders.  Factions will have individual characters, warchiefs, leaders etc.  I want to make the Native American warriors as accurate and colorful as possible.

Special Features
-I'd like to have buffalo hunts included.
-I'm thinking of a "trapping" function that would involve adding a traps slot to the character sheet.  If the slot is filled with a trap, the character will obtain a quantity of food and furs each week.  I don't know if it is possible?
-I'd also like to add a water requirement to be handled like the present food requirement.
-Villages and forts could be attacked

Inspirational Material
Films
Jeremiah Johnson
The Mountain Men
Man In The Wilderness
A Man Called Horse series

Books
Terry C. Johnston's Mountain Man series among others.

Mustangs + Muzzleloaders Expansion - The Scalphunters
If the former ever gets made: Expansion of the Mustangs + Muzzleloaders map to take the action down to Texas and the Mexican border in the late 1840s as the fur trade dries up.  Covers the activities of bands of Scalphunters paid for Apache scalps by the Mexican Government.  Factions to include Scalphunters, Apaches, Comanches, Mexican Army, U.S. Army, Pueblo Indians, Mexican peasants.  Several heroes and leader NPCs.  Will introduce the Walker Colt Revolver.

Special Features:
-Hoping to implement a scalping function: if player has a scalping knife equipped, a number of scalps will be taken after battle.  Indian scalps can be sold to the Mexicans in Mexican towns.  (Maybe, as happened in history, if the player tries to sell non-Indian scalps, the Mexicans could have a chance to detect this and turn hostile?)
-again, attackable villages and forts

Inspirational material
Cormac McCarthy's excellent novel Blood Meridian

Burros + Bandidos

Set in the Mexican Revolution of 1910.  Firearms would be Wild West to WW1 weapons.  Colt Peacemakers, Winchesters, Springfield and Mauser rifles and Colt and Mauser semiautomatic pistols. Factions to include Villistas and Carrancistas (rival revolutionary groups) Mexican Federal troops, American cavalry, Mexican Peasants.  Players could start as American soldiers of Fortune in El Paso, Texas and go south of the border to join any of the factions.

Special Features

-I'd like to develop a firing squad function to deal with unwanted prisoners after battles.
-Would use the water requirement as listed above.
-I noticed a working railroad train model in the Brother Against Brother thread that would be perfect.  I'd like to have mounted troops attacking a moving train, with  soldiers on the train firing back at them.
-A machinegun would be great too, but I hear it is impossible.
-yet again, attackable villages and forts.

Inspirational material
Any number of Mexican Revolution western movies.
The Wild Bunch
The Professionals
Duck You Sucker
Bullet for the General
And Starring Pancho Villa As Himself
The Old Gringo

Once again, I can make no promises I will ever be able to make these mods. They are all still in the daydream stage of development.  But they are subjects I have always wanted to see in computer games, so the motivation is there.

I'd also been thinking of a Planet of the Apes mod, but I think someone is already working on one.

Could you add Galactic Mercenary on there?
