Mods I won't play the game without.

FixPersuasion is also a great mod and it's customisable (you could make persuasion checks even harder), right now, without the mod your skills don't seem to have any real impact on persuasion attempts and i think relation also doesn't influence them.
The mod offers straight up editing of the success chance as well as charm-based scaling.

Fix Food Variety Morale Bonus fixes just that, so you get the full +8 morale boost from having all types of food in your inventory, instead of awarding just +2 like it's right now in vanilla. Of course this is only needed until this bug is fixed.

Better Quicksave offers three dedicated quicksave slots which rotate.

Sound The Alarm makes it so that you get a pop up notification when one of your settlements is under attack.

Settlement Icons adds icons to the nameplates of cities/villages to indicate quests, tournaments and noble troops.

For the crafting thing, I actually dont mind the downtime required, but it would be nice if it just moved the days forward for you instead of you having to leave the menu, rest, and then go back into the menu over and over. that part annoys me, especially because I am essentially guessing when my stamina will be refilled.

Maybe even a button in the crafting screen that rests you at the town until you are at full stamina.

1) is terrible. So much loading time for nothing. Just loading the character model in a new window with a static 2D background would be much. MUCH better, even for lords.

2) Tons and tons of mods. Because the game is honestly ****e at this stage.
a) XP rate is horrible because of several factors. No only does it take AGES to unlock some must-have perks like troops training ,but anything you don't put points in is SLOOOOOOOW

b) I have no issue with the small squad, after all, you are SNEAKING - but the max number of bodies you can bring should be determined by your roguery/tactics AND you should be able to select who goes with you.

c) I'd like it far more if every smithing action simply moved time by 1 hour. Taht way time and resting is simlated without the fuss. Also, it's grindy because not only is it slow to level in of itself, but unlokcing part is tiresome as hell and even slower.

3) Yup. At least those are simple, easy fixes

Realistic Battle destroys ranged combat.. Basically very unbalanced. The other changes do please me (and "realistic battle" doesn't have much realism to it tbh, due to their ranged weap changes, an arrow to the central area of the chest of an unarmed peasant should be an insta-kill, for instance. Sure, it would be more of a bleedout kill irl, but this game has no bleeding)
Have you even used realistic battle mod? I have the game open right now with cheat mode, gave myself a noble shortbow and piercing arrows and proceeded to one shot looters. Ranged combat will clear out enemy chaff and unarmored horses just like intended. And if you want to put the hurt on heavy infantry you aim for the head or flank your ranged to get around them. Every part of the army needs to support one another. Balanced is not having one group of archers machine gunning everything down. This is 6th-11th century warfare, infantry is king.

This is a fantasy century warfare, Khuzaits are king (like Khergit in Warband), unbalanced bows or not. This mod makes arrows fly at slow motion.

The only mod I use is the extra troops for hideouts mod.

I get that mods do help with a lot of the issues in game but for me part of this EA is to spot bugs and issues and report them. If I'm running mods it makes that almost impossible as I couldn't tell what caused the bug / issue. Until the game is further developed I'll or I get bored with vanilla I'll probably skip using mods even though I know some of them would improve the experience immeasurably.

I am cautious with mods, can't dll files come with viruses? If I were to choose which mods need to be part of the base game it is dialogue skip and continue fighting as companion after death mod. Although I got the stugiarus mod which makes the stugian units a bit better.

if you get your mods through nexus, you should be fine, since most uploads get scanned by multiple av scanners. pretty sure only really huge archives don't get scanned.

Edit: you can check on the mod page if it was scanned.

How do those scanners check the dll files? Do they just have an archive of all viruses that have been found? What if it is a new virus algorithm?

they are utilising virustotal for the virus scans. virustotal uses more than 70 virus scanners. as for brand new viruses, there is never a 100% perfectly safe method, but that's as good as it gets i would say.

Edit: not every new virus is undetectable, since virus scanners not only scan for known viruses, but also for in lack of a better word suspicious "patterns"

In warband, heavily armored infantry could withstand arrow fire. Bannerlord is absolute nonsense. Plus bannerlord is historical fiction, theyve based everything off real life history so there is an expectation of it being grounded in reality of how armor works and physics. They have a physics engine in game for a reason. And now say it with me for the last and only time: no arrow in the history of human powered archery could laser through a heavily armored dude.

Arrows were primarily used to harrass, force enemy soldiers to slow down and bunker up, and injure people. Arrow wont shoot a great helm but getting one stuck between a joint in your armor or a gap in the eyes will put you out of the fight before the fight starts.

No, that's just some weird gamer consensus along with some history channel "specialists" who can't understand how to add 1 with 1. Historically arrows were used to kill, what some of the most educated into ancient warfare say is that for the most part, archers would mingle with the infantry and shoot at mid-range... Long range would be ineffective, bows only started being used at "arch" group shots with longbows in later periods. Also, the armor to stop arrows depend on material of the armor, material and shape of the arrow tip and the force of the bow.

There's too much into it, and I'm lacking the patience to give a class about the subject, I've researched it long time ago out of curiosity, but you are falling into misconception there, do some reading, there are plenty of youtubers who like to talk about this, just go there, it's not like we have better things to do anyway

Yeah, shoot to harass from within the infantry line. Same as how 6th to 11th century warfare involved two battle lines throwing crap at one another prior to the clash of infantry. Theyre not dedicated skirmishers but they also don't expect to kill anyone with it. Law of combat says the more **** you sling down range the numbers will be on your side. Repeat after me, nobody realistically expected their arrows to kill heavily armored line infantry at any range, it was a harassment technique.

I have a feeling that you've only really started learning about this subject, that's not how it worked. Go do some research I'm serious haha
There are tons of testing and theory-craft based upon texts. It was not harass, it was to kill, the accuracy with which an archer can shoot at medium range is quite spectacular, aiming for the soft spots wasn't a problem, and chainmail can't stop an arrow, so if the bow is strong enough, it'll likely go through chainmail and gambeson, deadly as hell... If hit the neck? Dead.

Oh, btw, this guy seems a bit weird and all, but it's my favorite example of archery misconceptions:

1) Campaign map dialogue. The vanilla loop of encounter of " chase downlooters -> loading screen -> Tell them get ready for a pounding -> Loading screen -> Select Attack -> Loading screen -> Battle" is atrocious, sorry guys. The more immersive dialogue screens are great for important lords (even then can be annoying) but not for insignificant mobs. Literally the dead time from this inefficiency adds up over a gameplay session.

This times 1000. I added this mod myself and battling looters and other miscreants is so much smoother. I want to kill them, I do not want to sit through a bunch of loading screens to talk to them. I honestly don't care what they have to say.

Personally, I really do like the mod but what you say is true. Arrows or archers, in general, would be efficient in killing en mass when a rout ensued. I terms of combat, an example would be the battle of Agincourt where arrows would actually not be arched but fired with incredible kinetic energy directly at the heavily armored knights, so you can only imagine how it would play out in earlier periods with less armor and 'weaker' bows.

I feel like almost all dialogue of this nature could be done as a drop down window from the upper right ui element instead of having the scene loaded just to talk.

What would work much better imo is when overrunning a target on the world map it gives you a choice to approach and speak or straight attack and then maybe have a dialogue after the fact depending on the encounter.

You do know the archers only won in agincourt because the tired french knights were basically drowning in the mud and the archers just stabbed them in the joints with daggers? The arrows mostly injured the horses and forced the french to walk fully enclosed in their suits at a faster pace so nobody accidentally took an arrow to the neck or something. Tiring them out during a hot summer day. Then they got bogged down fighting in the mud with the british men at arms and the lightly armored archers walked all over them.

I'm actually having fun in the forums with those "mini-fights" people are picking with me, they try to debunk stuff that I really have studied about without any sort of basis haha Not the first time, I think it's the new generation who's becoming active in here due to BL
