Hello, all. New to the forums, and i guess you could say new to the game on account of the fact i've never gotten a character very far. Been playing a while though. Anyways, I purchased and play the game through steam, so if i wanted to mod the game, what would be the process for doing such? And could anyone suggest a good, simple mod that doesn't change the game too far from native? Maybe adds to the masterless warlord aspect, or something along those lines? Thanks in advance.

well what you do is you go into your (c) file then steamapps then click on the file that has your steam username then click mount&blade and finally into modules. Now onto your mod question, All the good mods that are out are quiet different then native, you should have a look at second age not out yet but hopefully it will be soon.

The only trick is finding your Mount & Blade folder which lives in C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\mount and blade most likely.  If you're trying to mod stuff yourself, you can either hack up text files a la TheMageLord's text tweaks (how I got started) but it's far easier and more comprehensive to use the ModuleSystem which you can read all about in The Forge.  There's a mess of tutorials and code and assets posted; just hunt around a bit (look for Jik's tutorials and Ruthven's links post for starters).

Some mods come with an installer.  These almost always fail because they assume a non-steam friendly path.  You basically want to grab the guts of a mod and stuff it into its own folder of your modules folder and then select it from the launcher.  As for actual mods, you really can't go wrong with any of them so far as I can tell, though most of them give the difficulty a hefty crank.
